Replace 1, 2, or 4 tires

2018 Trail and I've got a pretty big (5") gash in my front right tire. A new OEM tire is $150ish from dealer. I can 1) get 2 for that price on Amazon and have a spare (would need a rim obviously), or 2) get 4 new ones for not much more.

I'm leaning towards option 1, but has anyone found option 2 to be that much better?

I've browsed previous threads and haven't quite seen this scenario. Also, wondering if it's ok to mix new with factory tires. Only about 400 miles on them. I ride mainly rocky, rooty, gravel trails and the occasional mud pit my kids want me to go through...

Thanks!

Re: Replace 1, 2, or 4 tires

My opinion, get 4 new tires that aren't stock pxt. I asked myself the same question long ago. Pxt tires are terrible - I got my first flat then bought 4 new tires immediately. I went with dirt commanders as they were good on price and 8 ply.

It's not if you will get another flat, but when. Take the opportunity and get a more robust option. I'd only buy a single pxt if budget was tight.

Re: Replace 1, 2, or 4 tires

Look for take offs from another rzr, preferably a 900s or XP to get something bigger. For as cheap as a full set goes for sometimes, be the much more cost effective route, plus, bigger tires.

What he said^ Look for take-offs from a 900s. They will be Dirt Commanders if from a newer year. I sold my almost new tires and wheels for $400 on Craigslist, bought almost new tires and wheels from an XP for same price.

I’ve got 2 sets of stock tires with less than 300 miles on each set. 250$ for 4 tires. Located in north Florida came off 2017 900 trail
