Led rear tail/brake light question

Purchased a set of these and they only work on the bright setting. No brake light function. Just bright as if the brake was pressed all the time. Doesn’t go dim either when the pedal is depressed

Is there anything odd with our electrical systems that make LED’s not work properly? Is there a resistor needed for brake light to function properly? (Like turn signals on cars).

Or was I possible just sent a bad set?

Re: Led rear tail/brake light question

You can still get the reds in a 27 led version. May not be as bright though.

Re: Led rear tail/brake light question

LED taillights come in two versions.
Bulbs for "Standard" wiring, or for "CK" wiring.
You need to check taillamp socket with voltmeter or test lamp to determine how yours is wired.
Some of the cheaper LED lamps do not have separate negative contact for the dual filaments and may not behave properly.
My 2014 RZR 800 needed NON-CK bulbs.

Re: Led rear tail/brake light question

Funvtec,

LED bulbs are polarity sensitive.
Try rotating the bulbs you have 180 degrees in the socket.

You may also be able to bend the LED contact pins from one side to the other and get the bulbs to work.

I did indeed try that. Also tried putting both in at the same time. Then one incandescent and one led. No luck.

Re: Led rear tail/brake light question

I ordered the 3157-CW27-T-CK LED for our 2012 800, they work fine. I ordered them from Super Bright LEDS.

That is the same place that Brian posted.

Good to know Les! I wasn't sure how bright they would be. Mine are the 45 led count, but they have discontinued them.

Re: Led rear tail/brake light question

Here is a link for a 45 LED unit, looks like it is available in Amber.
