Usa 800 RZR won't start!

I'm having problems getting my 09 800 RZR EFI started, I was riding in a creek, and hit quick sand, stuck, when we hooked the wench on my RZR, we pulled my RZR backwards (only direction I could go), killed my RZR, when I got my RZR to the bank, it won't turn over, water in the cylinders, I took my RZR home took the bed off of my RZR, cleaned all the sand and mud from around the plugs. Water was in cylinders, water was in engine oil, trans, and rear differential. I put new plugs in my 800, and put PB blaster after I started it, put new oil in everything.
Now I'm putting a home made snorkel kit on my 800 RZR, I also put a new air breather in my 800. All this time with working on my RZR, and being with family it's been a month. My 800 RZR won't start now, so I sprayed WD40, and starting fluid in my breather, my RZR started right up, but died few seconds after starting, after that my RZR would start run second or so then die. I did this start, and die thing 4 or 5 times. I quit for the day this morning my RZR won't start, I haven't checked the few pressure, but I can hear the fuel pump run, I would thing my RZR should least start, and die, even if I don't have 40 PSI. Anyone have any ideals what's happening here, I'm new to these RZR. Thank you for any help at all! I got a code reading of 2.2

Re: 800 RZR won't start!

Check the fuel tank for water, if you find water, remove tank, drain it and dry it very well, add fresh fuel, drain, clean and dry fuel lines to injectors, reinstall fuel tank. If no water in tank check fuel pressure. Report back.

Re: 800 RZR won't start!

I checked fuel pressure 40 LBS, I set the TPS 7.0 is as close as could get it, was on 4.9. I'll check the fuel tank for water, are the RZR real sensitive to water? Thank you Mike T

Fuel pressure is spot on. Time to check the tank for water.

Re: 800 RZR won't start!

What is your cylinder compression. If you turned it over much with water in the cylinder that isn't good.

Re: 800 RZR won't start!

First thing I did was checked the compression, 155 lbs on both cylinders, throttle closed, my RZR started right up after I changed all the oil, and new plugs. But it set for a month doing our family things, plus cleaning all the parts, and putting a home made snorkel kit. Mike T suggested water in the fuel tank, so I took the plug off fuel rail, put a hose on the end of the rail to fill a jar of gas, the pump kicked for a second and quit, got about a cup of gas, the pump quit pumping with power on, I check the 3 way plug to the pump, 1 wire had 5 volts, 1 wire had 2 volts, guess the last wire is ground. I checked the fuel pump fuse, it had 12 volts. I cleaned all the grounds I could find, still only 5 volts. I guess I got a short, are there's a ground I'm missing? I cleaned the grounds under the drivers seat, by the brake light switch, cleaned the ground by starter, and ground on coils. aim I missing a ground. Thank you for you guys help.. If you get 2 reply's sorry, I didn't sign in on the first one.

Re: 800 RZR won't start!

I downloaded a manual on my RZR today, starting to get better ideals why my pump shut off, and there was water in my vent tube to my fuel tank, I'm replacing all my vent tubes in my snorkel kit.

Re: 800 RZR won't start!

Check relay contacts in fuse box.
Red/Black wire should be 12V.
Brown is ground wire.
Purple/white is sending unit to fuel gauge wire.

From Manual:
The ECU switches off the pump preventing the continued
delivery of fuel in these instances:
• If the key switch is not promptly turned to the "start"
position.
• If the engine fails to start
• If the engine is stopped with the key switch "on" (as in
the case of an accident).
In these situations, the “check engine” light will go on, but will
turn off after 4 cranking revolutions if system function is OK.
Once the engine is running, the fuel pump remains on.

Re: 800 RZR won't start!

Thank you CA 800, Appreciate the time you took to send both pdfs. I checked everything and all was what it was suppose to be. Mike T suggested water in tank, so I cleaned the tank and found the vent hose full of water. put new vent hose, cleaned tank, put fresh fuel in the tank, and my RZR started right up. soon as it my RZR started, it started raining cats and dogs out side. Maybe get to ride my RZR tomorrow. Thank you all for your help, happy camper once again!
