570 mechanical question- loose hose?

After reading about the heat shield that folks are putting on the back of their seat shield between the engine and the seats; I decided to take a close look to see what I had.

I saw that polaris had added a nice shield behind the seats and above the exhaust (2017).

While there however I noticed a disconnected hose. Not good.

I also noticed that the heat shield was bent down at the top so that it was almost touching the exhaust (toward the manifold)

Question

1. I reconnected the hose but have driven the rzr up and down the street about ten times before I noticed it. Did I do any damage?

2. Should I bend the top of the heat shield to make it more horizontal at the top versus bending downward toward the exhaust

See pictures.

By the way. I sent the pictures to my Polaris Sales and Service dept and asked their opinion. I just picked this up on Friday

Re: 570 mechanical question- loose hose?

I went for a quick ride down a gravel road before i looked my machine over when i first bought it. Mine was off too Thats the crankcase breather hose. If it doesn't look dirty just put the hose on and forget about it. There should be a little plate under that fitting that bounces around lets pressure out so nothing big can get it in. Change oil if you're worried. I have about 3000km now and no oil burning yet

You should be fine with just reconnecting The Hose,I would go over the rest of The Machine Checking Fluid Levels Verify Air Filter is There ( someone got 1 with a missing filter) & look over bolts to be sure all are tight.

Don't even look like you have driven your new rzr much so you should be A ok. The second picture made me laugh. Stamped on the engine in bold letters MADE IN MEXICO. 5 inches away is a hose that's not connected. good thing you didn't do any deep water or mud crossings.

I would bend it back up as long as bending it doesn't open any gaps in the material. If that stuff gets too hot it can deteriorate, and touching the pipe won't help. The more air gap between it and the exhaust pipe, the better it can insulate.

Plaza Cycle called back and said it was just to connect the hose and not to worry, it is a vent like Lets Go There said.

I will take it to 5 mile pass this weekend.

Trying to figure out how to install a dual mounted 30 caliber machine gun on the roof. That roof just cries for something cool on it.............

If it'd carry the weight, I'd go with a GAU-8 out of a Hog. With combat mix loaded.

Re: 570 mechanical question- loose hose?

Rockets are too messy and may singe hair and eyebrows upon launch. I'd stick with the Ma Deuce (M2 Browning machine gun) and a Mk 19 grenade launcher for a little pew pew pew boom boom action. Not good for hunting since Ma likes to split large organisms into multiple parts. However, Ma is great at shooting through engine blocks. Just try to avoid bumps when firing on the move, gets messy real quick.
