The ply rating is just a rating, not necessarily the actual amount of plys. If you buy a load range E tire for your truck, it might be considered a 10ply rating but only have 7 or 8. Ratings are ratings. Not always correlated to the actual composition. Are the tires identical tread and manufacturer, just trying to decide to go 4 or 6 ply? If on groomed trail 4 is cool. If going off trail and rocks, sticks, etc. Get the 6 ply.

I moved up a tire size and went from 4 to 6 ply. The tires did weigh more but it doesn’t seem to change the performance of the machine. The 6 ply is stiffer than the 4 ply. So the ride was a little stiffer but we did the shock upgrade at the same time and the kids said it was way smoother ride even with the stiffer tires. I would recommend going up a tire size to give the machine a little more clearance.
