New shocks

Trying to improve the ride on my sons 170, any tips on shocks or shock setups to make it handle a little better? He wants to go to the track and we ride desert..

Been reading about LTR450 front shocks? Do these fit front and rear on the 170?

Or should I just go with elka?

Thanks for the info and your time

Re: New shocks

Perhaps someone might help a newbie here, instead of me starting a brand new thread. I just picked up a 2015 170 for the kiddos and first time out on the trails we blew an A Arm and the rear control arm. This came after a big wheel kit, and the shocks seem to be well past their prime.

I keep reading on the forum to put the Raptor 660 front shocks on the front of the 170, and the LTR450 front shocks on the rear of the 170. (I think I have that right). My eBay search finds a lot of options with price ranges all over the map. Is this combination of shock recommendations only for the original OEM shocks from the 660/450 or is this just for sizing? E.g. There are plenty to used options of both, but there are also plenty of brand new (and cheaper) non-OEM shocks. I'm just trying to get my hands wrapped around a moderate shock upgrade without breaking the bank.

Thank you
Rob

Are the 660 in the front or rear?

I have a trx450r that I use to race back in the day. I have a brand new pair of front shocks from that, wondering if I can put them on either the front or the back. My 7 year olds out grown this thing and I need to start modifying or get a short course kart

Re: New shocks

Has anyone tried these 400 mm gas or air and oil shocks on eBay with the fake resivoirs. They are about $63 for the pair listed for the 660

Re: New shocks

Also are there any other shocks that fit the rear. I canít find the ltr450 shocks for any reasonable price. I just got some raptor 660 shocks for a good deal for the front.
