Re: My 1000 using oil

Mine with 171 miles started blowing blue smoke. Checked the oil, found barely a trace on the stick luckily a buddy had some oil. Continued blowing smoke especially after letting off throttle and then accelerating. VERY frustrating haven't even made first payment yet! Dropped off at dealer, waiting to hear the news. 20k machine that wasn't set up properly (common) and now this.

Sry and yes a few of use have had that problem but polaris has taken care of it. Just takes a little time calls.

Re: My 1000 using oil

Thanks Razorpilot-Dealer got it right in and did the leak down test, the left cylinder was leaking badly (85%) i think is what they said. Looks like a new motor. So far it has been hassle free (other than it being brand new and needing a motor). Hopefully continues without a issue.

Re: My 1000 using oil

Update-dealer is saying it was an oil ring failure, service manager was "unavailable" will call in morning. Starting to feel uneasy, talking like just doing cylinder, piston and rings. calling polaris "help" line tomorrow. It's too bad really starting to think I shouldn't have bought these, yes these bought an xp900 3 weeks before I bought the 1000 from same dealer. Here's hoping polaris steps up. Looking for thoughts, may big concern is and heat damage in the lower end from lack of oil, which wouldn't show until out of factory warranty. Our trails close in a few weeks and the machine will likely sit until next spring well out of warranty!

WOW! That was a complete run around from Polaris, customer service is bad. I work in the Auto industry and i can say without Question that our manufacturer never would handle this this way.

Re: My 1000 using oil

Final answer from Polaris-We are fixing the piston, rings, jugg on the effected side, we will not replace engine, short block or otherwise, we will extend warranty for the time the machine was down if you want an extended warranty we will sell it to you. There is absolutely no sense that they want to help at all. Wont listen to concerns about metal particals in the rest of the engine. Nothing, Its too bad i have enjoyed the two RZR's I have but will never buy another Polaris product. Good luck to those that have problems like this.

They did a long block on mine since my piston skirt broken and cracked apart piston and all those parts were sucked into the oil pump and went throughout the engine. I would meet with the service manager have him physical show you what failed and look and the damage myself. Then keep the above in mind if its a broken in anyway.

My took a lot of calls and in my opinion Polaris didn't handle it well it took allot. Your welcome I PM you my number you can call.

Re: My 1000 using oil

Hi all! My name is Sergey and I am from Russia. I have a similar problem with the motor. after 100 miles the motor jammed. after opening of the motor saw that shot off the bottom of piston and the lower oil ring. when the motor is jammed in the motor oil was not. never leaked oil!

dealer told me that these problems with the engine in the world was not, but after reading your forum I saw the opposite.

Failed to get a response to your dealer about the reason for this failure?

Yes..looks like you had the same problem as a lot of us..lower piston land gave way...then you consumed oil at a high rate, till the motor gave up.
I was using over 1qt every 50 miles..
Hope Polaris takes care of you..
