Modified my Isota Box

I have the Isota storage box in the bed of my XPT and I love it.....except for the mounting brackets.

The front mounting brackets have to be removed from the box so the box can be removed from the RZR. The brackets attach in front of the roll bar and the roll bar is in the way which makes it a pain to check the air filter or add oil.

I decided to use the lock and ride holes under the front of the box, but they are wider than the box. I came up with a solution...

Not the best aluminum welding I've done but you can't see it when it's installed and it is nice and secure. The Polaris Lock and Ride lever clamps make it really easy to remove and now I can check my air filter more often.

It was a little painful to cut up a $600 storage box but now that it's done it is totally worth the effort. I don't know if the XPT box is different than the other boxes they make but those front brackets were a major flaw.

Interesting idea.

Re: Modified my Isota Box

Also I added some straps inside the box to hold stuff still when I don't have it full.

And the divider in the bottom of the box is a drawer handle. Keeps the tool bag in it's spot when the ice chest is not in there.

Re: Modified my Isota Box

I got a chance to test out the new mounts on the trail and it is totally solid. I'm really happy with it

Nice Job! The rear brackets are why I have not bought one yet.

Re: Modified my Isota Box

When I made my box similar to the Isota I utilized the front slots in the storage area. A small aluminum angle bolted at the correct orientation will slide into the two slots. I can take some pics if anyone is interested. I have two lock n ride plugs that hold down the rear.

Our original XP1K cargo boxes had two 3/8" aluminum bars welded in the front that went through the slots in the front of the bed. As Polaris added more models and options (Highlifter, Click 6 harnesses) and we added the spare tire mounts and cargo leveler we changed our design slightly. We added the two forward mounts to strengthen the box when a spare tire was mounted on the lid. It also added an element of theft deterrent that many customers had asked for.

It's great to see people make improvements that fit their specific needs!

Re: Modified my Isota Box

Yeah I seem to remember your boxes being like what I made mine to, you even had a lock hole I think?
