new and need advice

hello and thanks in advance for your input
tomorrow I have the option to pick up one of the following two RZR Turbos and would like some advice
2018 with an easy 20 hours of use, full windshield/wiper/washer, lower doors, 4500# superwinch, Rockford Forsgate stage 3, haness' and light bar
OTD $15,000
OR
2019 brand new and stock for $16,900 OTD
I plan on occasional use, minimal mud, some rocks but mostly open speed use
I planned on modding with everything the '18 has (not stereo) but also back windshield, roof, bumpers, rock sliders, mirrors, spare tire/mount

thanks

Re: new and need advice

That is a tough one. The 19 will have warranty for awhile. The 18 is loaded and ready to ride. Has lots of $$ in accessory that you would want, for the most part. IF you can guarantee the 20 hrs are really light, some define light different. With a new you know the history. With a used, one only thinks they know the history. What is the back story on the 18? Is it real or made up? One important question you need to have answered. Why only 20 hrs after that much expense in machine and accessories? Does the 18 come with any warranty at all. Could drive it off and find issues. Has the 18 been modified and returned to stock to sell. Think, if my budget would allow for all the new accessories, I would go with the 19 new, simple because it is new and not possible abused.

Re: new and need advice

thanks, all good points
(supposedly) purchased with mods done by dealer which I am waiting to confirm
(confirmed) seller lives on a farm and feels a Ranger would make much more sense for him
haven't confirmed condition other then many pictures as seller is 200 miles away and tmw I plan on inspecting and buying at same time....unless the new '19 wins me over

Re: new and need advice

That is a lot of drive time to inspect it for sure. Remember 20hrs is not even the first service at 25 hrs. If as advertised it would be as new.

I suspect the farmer would take less than his asking price if one showed up with cash in hand.

Re: new and need advice

I have an 18 Dynamix, drove a 19 non dynamix. Liked my 18 a lot better. 19 they changed a lot inside cab, roll bar is taller. Mirror on roll bar is a lot higher and harder to use. Have to really look up. Somethings on the 19 I did not like as well. It is a lot of personnel preference. 19 did have lots of places for switches for accessories. Like the look of the 19 with the led lights in grill. Was comparing a Dynamix ride to a non dynamix turbo of the 19. Mine rode so much better. You will like either one and get lost of use.

Re: new and need advice

just spoke to seller
reviewed video/facetime
confirmed dealer did RF stage 3, light bar....
claims not a scratch
looks like a 400 mile r/t is happening
$15,000 is true bottom line I think its a real solid price
new at $17 is very tempting but I value the savings to be $4,000 with no value assigned to $2100 stereo
still leaves me plenty of modding to do

Re: new and need advice

The 19 cage is exactly the same as the 18. There is zero difference, same exact part numbers. The dash is different in the design and the way it is cut near the legs so the interior feels different. But the actual cage is exactly the same. Visibility forward is somewhat less on the 19 due to the higher dash area. Makes you feel like you are sitting lower in the machine when nothing has changed in that regard.

I would look at the 18. It has a lot of $$ stuff so seems kinda low price if actually in the condition described. Look it over real good, look underneath. Jack up the wheels and feel for slop. The story makes sense but I would still look it over real good. Has thousands in accessories. Seems too low of a price. Be sure it has a title or MSO.

Personally like the 18 exterior better but prefer the 19 interior.

Re: new and need advice

You don't pay sales tax on new, or your OTD is with sales tax ?

Sales tax is what pushed me into a used one..

I'm glad I bought a used ... it doesn't hurt so bad after you break something ...

Interesting on the roll bar being the same. With both machine setting, it sure looked like the roof of the 19 had a lot less slop to it over the 18, meaning greater distance between the cab and roof. It sure does feel like you are setting down in a bucket.

I was planning on buying a new 2019 turbo for 16,000$ but I ended up going with a slightly used 2016 1KXP for the same reason... all the aftermarket additions were a huge selling point for me and the wife, since they were already done and the purchase price was lower than new, it would in the long run keep the money funnel low to the machine. But the thought of owning new is always enticing as well. For me it was budgetary concerns paying that much money in all Cash makes one think a lot harder about it than for those who finance.

Re: new and need advice

all true
like I said the slightly used unit at $15k versus brand new at $17.0 (OTD with sales tax) obviously saves $2,000 and the mods, even at .50 cents on the dollar, bring total savings to $4000+
for 20 hours of easy use and minimal changes year over year the savings will pay for the rest of the mods on my ridiculous expensive list
