Hello all!

I have just recently got back into trail riding and have decided to get a RZR. we rode some trails in Arkansas and had a blast on my dads kawasaki teryx. But there isn’t anyway I’d own one of those. Been a Polaris owner since mid 90’s and currently have a ranger XP 900.

Help me out. Can’t decide on a 1000 or a turbo model. Will be a 2 seater. My inner gear head says a turbo but I don’t think the kind of riding we will be doing that that much power is needed.

No high speed trails.

Somebody tell me that a 1000 has more then enough power to get the job done. Plus I like playing in the mud holes.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing options from the experts.

But being serious a xp 1000 for sure has enough power to get the job done. They are great machines as well. But The Turbo will have loads of power on tap. Anytime you want “need” it. So if it’s not a price issue I’d go Turbo. People RZR smarter than me can chime in on this one but I believe the turbo also has some beefier drive components to handle the added power. So if you keep your foot off the floor.. Solid Rig. I love my Turbo but I don’t keep my foot off the floor lol

There are dozens of threads on this. If you think you're going to regret not getting the Turbo even a little, just get it, because you'll be kicking yourself if you're wanting to trade it in in 6 months. That said, I run trails with my 1K and have never regretted it. Especially when I read through the intercooler failure threads and what-not. People will tell you that there are no disadvantages to the Turbo models, but there are. Do some more reading. There are beefier components, but you're also running 50% more power through the drivetrain so...

I decided against the ride command.. I guess I personally didn’t think it was worth the 2k an it can always be added ladder. Most of what the ride command does you can do on your phone... if u have service lol. But it definitely looks really cool. Looking at it now 60 days into my purchase probably should not of been a cheap ass an got ride command lmao. If you got the money go for it bro.

Your right, ride command isn't worth $2k but it's a great feature. We added it to our XPT and love it. Its more when you add it, ours was $2100 without speakers (we didn't want them) and had to have the main unit replaced already (it would black screen if you shut the key completely off after riding, reset by removing battery cable. ) works great now and would buy it again even though it's a lot of money just for a little better gauges and a great GPS.

I forgot to mention, the turbo is only about 10% more for 1/3 more power. Our friends bought a 1k last fall and their machine is what convinced my wife that it was time for us to get a big one. No regrets, they ride so much better. Like it was pointed out by another, the power is there when you want it and great when you feel the urge. Now our friends are wishing they had bought the turbo.

I have had both Turbo and several non turbo xp 's
On the trails you will not see a difference the extra power is typically not needed.
If you plan on running larger / heavier tires and wheels like 32's I would then highly recommend the Turbo ...32's are great for serious trail riding
If you are going to keep it stock you will not see a difference with the non turbo on the trails
The Non turbo does have some advantages that I prefer in the mountains ...for example when you are in in tall grass , weeds and other stuff that burns and can cause a fire
A lot of the trails we ride on this time of year and latter in the summer have not been drove on and the grass seeds and weeds fill the floor boards bed and the belly of the machine. I blow it out with the air compressor after ride like this just to be safe. Also a fire extinguisher is a must IMO. I feel a little safer with the non turbo in the late summer months when it is popcorn fart dry !!
