Another homemade stereo..

I've been putting together a stereo for my RZR and came up with a decent system that does what I need.

Started with a Jensen MSR2107 for a head unit. It has nice big buttons which make it easy to control with gloves on.

The HU has a remote "brain" box which fit nicely way up in the dash.

Then I made an overhead box for a couple of 6.5" Polk 651's. I sprayed it with Duplicolor truck bed coating in the rattle can. It goes on quick and has a great finish.

Even though the Jensen advertises 200W, it still isn't enough to drive the Polks, so I nested a disposable amp in the overhead box.

Once it was up, it looked great.

System still needed a little more low end. I picked up a Polk MM1040 and another amp to drive it. When it came time to install it, I decided against it because of weight. As much as I love subs, I don't need that much.

I found this Pyle PLMRBS8 8" active sub. Size and weight were what I was looking for.

It is really tight, but it does fit on the firewall with the glovebox in place.

The 8" does alright, it's nothing spectacular. You can definitely tell it's there though. It took a while to get rid of the rattles from the firewall, floorpan, and driveshaft hump plastics.

The devil's in the details and doing it decent takes some time. Everything's tucked and pulled through the cage, weatherpac connectors, heatshrink, solder, blah, blah, blah.

I ended up with a system that sounds pretty damn good, and doesn't take up my underhood storage or require the removal of my glovebox.
