Re: Glamis dunes yearly pass is now a sticker
The BLM sucks! They are a typical government program that does everything ass backwards. I just sent them a comment on their site, but I am sure it won't get read. Here is what I stated:
Your policy of making the Imperial Sand Dunes permit a sticker that goes on the outside of a vehicle is ridiculous and unreasonable. There are multiple arguments that make this requirement unfair to the individuals that use the permit. In California and Arizona, it is not uncommon to have your windshield cracked/broken by rocks kicked up from other vehicles on the road. It is illegal to drive a vehicle with a crack/break that can impair your vision, so you are required to replace the windshield. Also, a lot of people use different vehicles to go to the dunes. One trip, I may bring a motorhome and the family, on another trip, I may go alone and only take my pickup truck. There is also the situation where someone sells their vehicle, and therefore, loses the permit with the sold vehicle. These are legitimate reasons not to require a permit to be a sticker that is permanently affixed to a vehicle. I understand that there are a few people that abuse the situation and share their permits, but that is a small minority. You choose to punish the mass majority for the actions of a select few. BLM has a bad reputation as it is, and making things more difficult for the masses, only hurts your reputation. Since you are a government entity, I am sure that you think that you are better than the individuals that you serve, and could care less how you treat the masses. At least that is the impression that most people think of BLM and your policies don't help to change peoples thoughts of you.
