Essentially yes. I don't ever remember reading a thread about someone asking to borrow a Dumont pass. And until this year they cost more, didn't they???

The Hillgraphics posts are yet another attempt to circumvent the system. Conspiracy to defraud the BLM could be punishable. Or they'll just do away with the yearly pass as they originally planned.

Everyone can think of many laws they don't like. That doesn't mean we can just pick and choose which ones we obey.

I don't like the new pass or the pricing. But since I want to go to Glamis I choose to obey the law. Depending on how many others don't will probably determine how draconian the BLM is about next years passes.
How often do you have to replace a windshield or have some jackass kid vandalize your property? Here in AZ I end up replacing my windshield at least twice a year and kids walking up the street almost always find something to mess with, so I should be penalized by the acts of others or circumstances beyond my control? Until they fix the lack of common sense associated with the current sticker program, I will continue to cover my own a$$ while still being in compliance with the letter of the law and not the implied intent. My sticker will be adhered to the windshield and not taped and in the correct location. And when I need to replace my windshield I will not be penalized an extra $150 because some idiot that works for the Cali government failed to think thru and implement the program in a realistic manner.

These are the instructions that come with the sticker, picked mine up yesterday.

If you've ever been to ramp meetings or anything involving the BLM decision making process you'd learn how boondoggles like this happen.
End the end,, it's some person of authority in a locked office that no one ever sees nor talks to, that gathers no input from anyone, that just thinks this crap up and implements it.
Takes years for word to get back to this person that their idea isn't working.

Re: Glamis dunes yearly pass is now a sticker

The BLM sucks! They are a typical government program that does everything ass backwards. I just sent them a comment on their site, but I am sure it won't get read. Here is what I stated:

Your policy of making the Imperial Sand Dunes permit a sticker that goes on the outside of a vehicle is ridiculous and unreasonable. There are multiple arguments that make this requirement unfair to the individuals that use the permit. In California and Arizona, it is not uncommon to have your windshield cracked/broken by rocks kicked up from other vehicles on the road. It is illegal to drive a vehicle with a crack/break that can impair your vision, so you are required to replace the windshield. Also, a lot of people use different vehicles to go to the dunes. One trip, I may bring a motorhome and the family, on another trip, I may go alone and only take my pickup truck. There is also the situation where someone sells their vehicle, and therefore, loses the permit with the sold vehicle. These are legitimate reasons not to require a permit to be a sticker that is permanently affixed to a vehicle. I understand that there are a few people that abuse the situation and share their permits, but that is a small minority. You choose to punish the mass majority for the actions of a select few. BLM has a bad reputation as it is, and making things more difficult for the masses, only hurts your reputation. Since you are a government entity, I am sure that you think that you are better than the individuals that you serve, and could care less how you treat the masses. At least that is the impression that most people think of BLM and your policies don't help to change peoples thoughts of you.
