I have a 2012 and I slow down for rocks but I gotta say...the factory skid is better than nothing but that's about it. I have the full FUTV skid setup in 1/2" and I guess I just like the peace of mind. It's nice to know that if you have to slide over a rock to get where you're going that you can.

Thanks Chad. That skid max package is sweet. It covers all the criticals and gives the 1st main frame brace like 4x the strength. I've hit the rear aluminum plate that covers the rear differential pretty hard and it did it's job great.

The mentality here is that I really wanted the protection of the skid max kit regardless, but then after installing it, I decided a full futv type skid was redundant for my needs. I just need some good sliders and I'll be all set. My crappy Polaris destroy-your-radiator "bumper" protects the front differential pretty well since it wraps underneath. There's one section I could beef up there.

Rocks always seem to destroy my stuff. I avoid them too when possible. If not possible, you deal with it in a rational way. When really bad, I find another route. I just like my machine too much and don't get a warm a fuzzy when I hear metal being torn by rocks. It's also time consuming to repair and potentially expensive.

Re: rock sliders with factory skid

I have the Pro Armor rock sliders. The side bars stick out out to protect the flairs and have a steel plate that extends to the inner frame rail.

Best protection you can get. Then when you replace the OEM skid plate with the FactoryUTV it will sandwich the PA slider.

BTW, we have hard rocks here in the Ozarks.

Re: rock sliders with factory skid

Looking closely at the ProArmor gear... I've got rear fender protection from my doors that have an integrated step. Those would help protect the step.

Check these out. They are probably the the most serious rock sliders / skid combo I've seen anywhere.

Welcome to RyFab RZR Cargo Box and ATV Accessories

Maybe I'll make my own. Got a TIG welder a few months ago, but have not tried to weld aluminum yet. Can't be too hard

Jim-

I am really surprised. For how much you have into your RZR you havent gotten a skid yet? Really?

The FUTV set including the A arms is awesome. I have had it scraping across rocks and banged it on trees more than I care to think about and I have had 1 ripped CV boot...

Worth its price is an understatement. My .02.

My factory skid over the past year and a half has worked great.I do not plow over boulders at speed.Main goal is to protect the tires and undercarriage. If mine ever needs replaced I would buy another factory skid if it was cheaper then aftermarket.

I'm glad its worked for you. Up here in the east I would have broken parts left and right. You should have seen the last skid I had with a Popo aluminum skid and horrible popo rock sliders. The were bent, scratched, rattling, and rusting within a year of my first RZR. You do know how much it is protecting under there right?

that said Jim I'll wait to see where you are going with this...

Here is a pic of my rock sliders from my full FUTV 1/2" setup. They actually allow you to "slide" over rocks vs a metal one....

Yes, very nice. As I said in my original post, and is included in the subject of this thread, I need something that protects more than the rocker panels and works with a "factory skid".
