Re: ooops

After looking at my photo I posted, I can see why some might wonder why trucker could not make it. I wish I had taken photo of road (corner) behind where I was standing.

That's just poor driving.... You understand that most of those roads were built by/for log trucks, right?

Re: ooops

Yes, I do. I still don't think he would have made it all the way up however. Just my opinion, but been wrong before. I wonder how the length, wheel base, turning radius etc... on a logging truck and trailer would compare to a truck like in photo?

Re: ooops

@ the OP
It would be about the same as the difference between a single cab, short box pickup truck and a crew cab, long box pickup. It's quite a bit.

Yeah, They sometimes direct folks over Tin Cup Pass pulling a travel trailer.

Happened to one of the Taylor Park attendees last year.

Huge diff between a logging truck and a 53' trailer being pulled by a tractor with no less than a 240 inch wheel base.
Being a long distance mover I run into situations like this. Difference is that if there is even the slightest possibility that something like that might happen I will call the shipper and have them pick me up and drive me to the house. Also, I never fully trust a GPS(even my truck specific one). Of course that's not to say I didn't learn the hard way. When I first went over the road I was in New Jersey and took a "short cut" to someone's house. 2 1/2
Miles up the road I encountered a low bridge... Thankfully there was a waste management crew working their way down the hill and they helped me back down. And trust me, the recovery bill on the above situation....HUGE!

I know the area, not much there but national forest land. There are a few roads that lead to things but not many. Most of the roads tat lead to houses or other things are a little wider then that one.

Wow, have no idea what he would be out there for, not much but trees. What really suprises me is that the FS helped him when it was a county road and not an FS road. I bet it was fun after they got him out of that curve, then the next and the next and ------------well you get the picture.

Re: ooops

Thanks Ed. It is a FS road. That road and a lot of others around there have a forest service road number and a county road number. I had a map from the campground but dont know what I did with it. It showed both numbers for the roads. the FS road number had a square around it and the county road had a circle around it.
