Re: Music/Systems

What brand of Waketower speakers do you have?[/QUOTE]

They are Phoenix Gold 6.5" coaxial in chrome cans. I knew nothing about the speakers but bought them for the cans. They were shipped to me from a pawn shop. I had planned on building something out of PVC and then mounting that but saw them on ebay. Figured it would be simpler and less time to just buy this and replace the speakers. They ended up sounding really good so left it.

I think I found a new set of the same thing for around $175.

Headphones are a great idea..If you want to share your music with a passenger get a headphone splitter and another set of headphones.

Re: Music/Systems

I'm all about cheap but I started out the same way put in the cheapest stuff I could find and it was just ok. I didnt play it alot because of the poor sound quality at the higher levels which is what you need if you want to hear it at higher speeds.I've redone mine twice and finally found the combination that I'm happy with for a reasonable price.
400w pyle marine amp mounted in the under hood storeage area, $90 ebay
A pair of 6 1/2 inch polk audio speakers mounted in a custom enclosure I made
Polk speakers were 75 @ frys and enclosure cost nearly nothing to make
8" Pyle wakeboard speakers mounted to a bar I added in the rear bed area-100 dollars ebay
JVC Bluetooth head unit mounted in a enclosure I made bolted to my roof. 150 dollars at fryes. NO WIRES to hook up my I pod just use my little pocket on my harnesses.
Probably spent 50 bucks or so on good speaker wire and materials to make the enclosures(resin) built them out of wood scraps I had and wrapped them in old t shirts then resin and bondo then painted with paint I had from prior projects.

Re: Music/Systems

I used a $40 marine pod from bass pro. Put a used $65 alpine mp3 head unit in it from eBay. Used the roof flashing pods for $5 from Lowes. Then put $30 3 way boss phantom speakers in them. Plenty loud and sounds good. Not alot of bass but if i put it in a car show i can throw a sub in the bed and slap some 22" rims on it.

Re: Music/Systems

has anyone tried the new wp series from ssv works ? I would really like to know if they are worth the money.. I cant see how they are getting any bass out of them with such small enclosures .. but man they look great and the ipod/iphone feature kicks ass....

Re: Music/Systems

I have a custom made overhead system with 4- 61/2s marine head unit and a alpine 5 channel amp then there is 2- 61/2s in ssv kick panel pods. Sounds pretty good.
