First time to Harlan...Any advice?

Going to be headed to Black Mountain KY on Thursday. It will be our first trip and we are gonna camp at Evarts campground. Does anyone know what the campground is like- shaded, grass, gravel? I'm hoping to pack everything I need so I dont have to buy it when I get there. What should I plan to take on the RZR when I hit the trail? I wish I had a spare tire but I don't.

Any advice would be awesome, I want to make this trip a good one!

South side camp ground is nice. As far as stuff to take. Beer, snacks, socket set, assorted pliers/screwdrivers, belt if you get one, compressor, plugs and anything else you can find.

Evarts campground is great. it has a clean bath house and all the local ridge runners hang out there every night so they could take you on a off the park ride.

I just came from there 2 weeks ago and their bathroom is nice. Other than that I was totally unimpressed. If I stayed in a cabin it may have been a different story. I had a choice of knee high weeds in a wide open field or a mud pit to pitch a tent. The spaces filled up that hook hookups andvit was full of large gravel. Not great for tents. That is just my thoughts of the campground though.

If I ever tent camp there I put my tent on the trailer

Evarts campground is not the greatest but neither is sleeping in a tent anywheres! ha
The Putney side is a little better for tents but it fills up quick. I'll be there on Sat but I prolly won't camp because I just live about 30 mins away.

Re: First time to Harlan...Any advice?

We were there 2 weeks ago also. We stayed on the Puttney side and their cabins kick ass. Buy a map, tire plugs, and watch for the rattlesnakes around the rocks at 3 poles. there was a den of them around the flat one. Take everything with you that could break because the place has some rough hills with the rocks.

2008 red, 2" lift, 12" Hipers, with a variety of tires, Fox 2.0 shocks, 2010 front end, Dragonfire Exhaust, DFR programmer, DRF quick release steering wheel, Pro Armor doors, full skids, front bumper, Cooter Brown top, SSV Works stereo, etc......
