Re: What is the purpose of doors?

doors!!!

doors add some bling to your ride.

doors keep you in your ride so some safety factor.

doors keep most of the dirt and mud off you.

doors during cold keep some heat in.

doors are doors some just want them because they can.

Re: What is the purpose of doors?

Lets put on our Imagination Hats for a Minute here.

Your running down a Hot AZ Desert Trail at 20.3 miles per hour. At the exact same time a Desert Rattler is coming across the same Hot AZ Desert Trail at .203 miles per hour. You both hit the same crossroads at the same time and he jumps up with Fangs Open to bite whatever is in his way. With Doors he smashes his Face and Fangs into Aluminum or Hard Plastic Doors. With out Doors he lands in your Lap and ...................................

Doors are nice to have. Where we ride they are a Necessity to keep the Brush from ripping your legs and arms apart, keeps the Mud off you, and add a Safety Measure that is Priceless!

Mine made the Rzr feel bigger, I can hang my left leg out farther without fear of something ripping it off. Also the heat retention in cold weather is nice. Protection would be my 3 factor, my doors are made of steel and I am sure they could take the weight of the Rzr and never buckle.

Riding in the AZ desert with doors has the following advantages:
Dust reduction in the cab and in the air box
Faster entrance/exit than the nets with opening doors
Keeps the cactus and thorn bushes from smacking you on tight trails
Nothing that comes loose will drop out on the trail during a ride.
Feeling of security having a little more protection from side impacts and roll over
I have not noticed it being hotter in the cab during the summer but it does reduce the wind in the winter.
Hope this helps,
John

Re: What is the purpose of doors?

I bought mine because I thought they looked good.

A little warmer on a cold windy day is a nice benefit.
and a nice arm rest.

Re: What is the purpose of doors?

I have half-doors and they help keep my legs in and the brush/limbs out when riding through the woods.

Texas Re: What is the purpose of doors?

With doors you can ride with no pants!

Oops, sorry that was the other forum. . . Seriously, two things come to mind. My grandson was about 3 when he got in with PawPaw to move the RZR about 5 feet. Didn't think a thing about seatbelts, aftre all it was only 5 feet. Side nets were in place and he was trying to loot at something on the ground when I moved and about that time, he was on the ground on his head. Nobody hurt but Awmaw saw the whole thing and said "do they make doors for that thing? "

Yes Ma'am.

Second thing: I was riding along the Canadian river a while back and was going through some salt cedars (Tamarisk for you scientific types) and one of the tree/bushes/whatever they are classified as, was being pushed out of the way by the front fender until it came to the opening in the doorway. It then slammed into my knee with enough force to rupture every blood vessel in samesaid knee causing one really old man to screech like a little girl and had to stop for a while to make sure anyone who heard me couldn't track me to the truck and laugh a lot. That hurt worse than anything I can remember without breaking bones. When I got home the wife saw the discoloration to my knee and gave me the look. To save face I told her they were carpet burns.
Those two things coupled with the fact that those dang salt cedars are still a part of life at the places I ride and my 4 grandkids all like to ride in the RZR prompted a hasty choice to get the doors. Nothing like slapping a 3 year old in the face with a bull whip to make the daughter in law's just a tad cranky.
They do hold a lot of heat in the cab though. good in winter, not so good in 110 degree heat but that can be lessened by blocking off the heat from the radiator.

Anyway, my 2 cents worth.

2009 standard rzr, TSI Turbo with CP pistons, P/W crank by Crankworks, Team/MCX wide ratio clutch,+5 lt kit with 1.5"offset from SATV, Polaris hardtop, Fox Podiums, Promark 3000XT winch, RZR4 exhaust, UMP intake, ProArmor doors, Progressive springs from Makin trax, DFR fuel controller, Polaris "S" flares, HID 35 W headlight conversion.
2013 XP4 Walker Evans edition, PA doors, axle armor on all 4. Needle shock conversion, PRP seats, Double Down intake kit.
With enough thrust, pigs fly just fine!
