8 injuries no deaths, I believe most of the injured where fire fighters. Townspeople have been allowed to come back to town. Businesses have been reopened, at least one road has been reopened to public traffic. Total of 6 structures destroyed including 4 homes. 16,300 acres have been charred.

Re: Crown King Fire

I was thinking of riding up there this weekend to support the businesses that have reopened.

I'm not old, I've just been around a long time.

Re: Crown King Fire

I heard on the news here they were blaming it on "off road vehicles that ride in the area". Not sure who "they" were, but think it was the local papers that made the decision it was ATV related. Don't think it was any government agency, yet.

It started as a house fire. This is well documented and reported.

That would have had to been some other fire. Not the Gladiator fire.

Possibly the Sunflower Fire ?

So far the only open road is the front way coming up from Cleator. The other routes could be closed for quite a while. Much of the Forest is closed off and will be for some time.

Doh, must have my fires mixed up. Maybe the one I'm talking about was in NM near a big riding area, or another one in AZ.

Re: Crown King Fire

http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_...rdb5369373.pdf

Bradshaw Ranger District of the Prescott National Forest... Closed until June 30 2012.

Residents with permit, Business owners with permit and officials only

Violations for being in the area, for being on a road, and/or for being on a trail.

Map of area affected on page 2 of the document. Technically, cant even go to Cleator ? No going up the backway to CK either.

edit:

http://www.azein.gov/azein/Lists/Ann...m.aspx?ID=2582

This link says the Road from Cleator to CK is open to the public. Monday CK was supposed to be open to the public and media, but I personally know the Sheriff Deputies werent exactly a warm welcoming committee.

I guess the thing to do is call up the General Store and see what the word is before going up.
