Re: More Clearance

Kandgo, nice to know there are some that understand how to get honest numbers. A 2" tire increase only gives 1" lift, actually less lift. And agreed lift the unit up and set it back down and it's amazing what lift you have gained. In short you have to do the measurements, do the mods, take it for a spin the check the measurements again.

Note I took mine for a ride after having it up before I remeasured.

Re: More Clearance

Lessee..."best way"

1. Racer Tech 2" lift kit

2. Makin Trax progressive springs and AFCO shocks...cranked up

3. Holz Stage III motor kit

4. 27.5" Pitbull Growlers

I didn't say cheap...but this is how I did it. Runs great, rarely hit bottom and rides great.

How much did it all cost...I ain't sayin' Momma might read this post....LOL

Re: More Clearance

My wife's 50" has makin trax springs and it rides soooo good. I've heard on here in several places that a lift will stiffen the ride to stock or worse than stock even with the MT springs.
So I'm wondering what the true deal is.....

To much to choose from. I need something to lift and don't have 100 s to spend. What's the best for the money? I was thinking wheels and tires because I want to be wider also.

Re: More Clearance

If you're limited on funds, the lift kit is the best lift for the money.

About 1.5" at the front and 2" at the back.

Wheel's and tires for one corner will cost you what the Racer Tech 2" lift kit will.

And everything else you've read in this thread can be added to the lift kit.

Lifts and spring spacers are going to harden your ride, much more so than simply turning up the shocks. With the stock springs and shocks on your ride it will start to sag, and continue to sag some more generally robbing you of your ride height, even less than factory. Lifts and spacers put more tension on your springs forcing the suspension down and giving you your height at the cost of your ride.

After conversing with Steve at MT suspension, he urged me to try his springs out as he recommended, and remove my lift. I did so, and the rest is history.

Re: More Clearance

Well...we all work to get to the same spot. I've got the lift, plus MT springs and AFCO shocks...and the machine rides great no matter how tough the terrain.

Guess one has to pick a place to start. I started with the lift.

It all works, just gotta figure out where you want to start. Oh, and the RZR you bought is just a place to start. Got mine, did the FUTV UHMW skid and the Wife commented "and so it begins"...yup still spendin' money and makin' mods...LOL

Re: More Clearance

You should go with progressive shock springs from Hawk Engineering, they are great.

Re: More Clearance

There are lots of options for suspension components. I've never seen any advertising on Hawk Engineerng, but lots on Makin' Trax. Steve Chase is great to work with.

Guess I'll have to see what I can find on Hawk Engineering. Never hurts to have more information.
