64" or 72", does size matter in width?

I am looking at the Rzr Turbo in either the 72" or 64" width, and the question comes down to width. I will be doing a lot of trail riding here in the Sierra Nevada area and some desert/dune riding as well. What are some pros and cons with going with the wider unit? I should also mention we plan on taking the unit to other states as we travel and ride there as well. Any input, comments or suggestions would be great. Thank you.

Well, it depends on where you want to go. There are a few ďslot canyonsĒ here in AZ where the 64Ē will just barely squeak through. 72Ē would be no go. And I have found a couple that I really had to work to get my 64Ē through.

And of course, if one goes to places/trails with the 50Ē restriction, it is a no go for either

You are going to get a lot of opinions on this. As others have said it depends where you go and what you want to ride. If you ride roads 72 inch. If you ride anything resembling a trail 64 of less. If you really want to trail ride and explore go 50 inch. If you have a 72 inch machine and the guy coming at you has a 72 inch machine you need 12 feet of width to pass. That is a lot of room and is no longer a trail.

Wider is better. Don't overthink it. Unless you plan on riding width limited trails, which not many have a 64" limit anyway (mostly 50"..whole different machine category) then go with the 72".

lol i just posted the same question. I cant decide! But from what i can read in my area (GA) most width restricted trails are all 50" so the 64" would be out anyways.

Iím sure you can find some trails in the Sierra Nevada that the 72Ē wonít go, but most everyone we ride with has 72Ē or they make the 64Ē wider with wheels and tires, I havenít had any problems trail riding up there.

it depends on where you ride, I ride some heavily wooded trails and a 72" machine would not fit.

Re: 64" or 72", does size matter in width?

Only you know what trails you are going to ride and what future upgrades you might want to do.
I hear guys say all the time they can take their 72 in machine down any trail their buddyís can. They might be able to, but is it enjoyable squeezing thru trees all day ? When I drive around my property I take my 900S. Itís much more enjoyable than my portaled RS1 or my Portaled XP4.
Itís easier to make your machine a little wider than it is to make it narrower.
Iím looking to buy a Pro XP. We do a lot of ledges, rock crawling, and hill climbing. Iíll put portals on it and be about 72 inches.

I've spent most of my money on women, guns, and Harleys. The rest I just wasted.

Re: 64" or 72", does size matter in width?

I recently bought a velocity. Iíve went everywhere my buddies have so far. Iíve also done a few things that they had problems with and the added width made it easier for me. Iíve also had to slow down more to squeeze through. And one time had a tire fall in a hole that I had no choice to do where as the other guys squeezed by. Even owning the 72Ē and using it Iím still not sure i made the right or wrong choice. Lol

64" YOU CAN ride about 80% of the trails in MN. class 2 trails are 65" or less. .

72" no idea where you would ride, except boring forest roads. ..

Also, if you swap wheels to a 4/3 you are going to be at 68 anyway
