AIM temp gauge at SSSS

I know some on this board are fans of this product, I myself missed the roll out on their proto-types and have been watching two companies closley for updates and or actual availabilty.

With the razorback I disliked emeinsly the fact they were WAY to bright for any type of night driving and not being able to dim it was lame in this day and age. Coupled with the fact there new model wasn't even spoken about much publicaly, nor was it available at the SSSS. They did have an $800.00 cvt fan, lol. No all kidding aside, the 3.0 is a great gauge and the guys over there seem extremely friendly. And the 4.0, if it ever hits the shelf and you want to spend a grand, will automatically turn your cvt fan off & on with temps, and have a dim option.

Well I couldn't wait for this, and already had a very nice fan for 1/10th the price.

So when I saw the AIM booth, I almost broke down and cried. Seriously. This is a quality product, and the company has been making some top notch electronics for high dollar race teams for decades. Suprised they even dabbled in this areana at all, but glad they do!

Cheers.

Re: AIM temp gauge at SSSS

[quote]"Many people keep asking about the AIM belt temp gauge and when will it be available???? Well the short answer is as of today if you want one you can order directly by calling AIM at their general number 1-800-718-9090

Due to legal issues beyond their control they are not setting up distributors with gauges. If they did it could complicate the situations and put distributors at potential risk of any legal actions being taken. I confirmed that authorized sellers on this forum are on their list and they are hopeful to set them up sooner than later. So once the legal issue are all cleared up we will only be able to purchase AIM gauges through an authorized dealer. However because we have worked so well with them and forum members have been respectful of the opportunities AIM has extended to us so fare they are allowing purchases through their 1-800-718-9090 general line until the issues are put to rest."[quote]

Re: AIM temp gauge at SSSS

Not bashing the product at all, this is more of an FYI for everyone. I run their (AIM) MX-UTV datalogger which has the belt temp sensor with it. Actually its the same sensor as the belt temp gauge uses. It was confirmed by AIM clear back in March 2019 when they were showing us the prototype gauge. I run the Razorback side by side with the AIM belt temp because I had the Razorback already in the car before the AIM, and the AIM is constantly 10-25 degrees different than the razorback. As the belt temp rises so does the difference between the two. I have shown AIM this issue multiple times as well as worked with them direct to troubleshoot. We even disconnected the Razorback thinking the infrared beams were influencing each other. Tried new sensors, at the end of the day AIM says their sensor is properly calibrated for the belt and is correct. However I dont agree. When I have the car sitting in my garage for a week straight and turn the key power on and Polaris Ride command ambient air temperature indicates 74 degrees, Water temp indicates 72 degrees, Razorback indicates 74 degrees, and a laser temp gun on the belt reads 74 degrees and the AIM indicates 84 degrees, one of these is not like the other. Again not bashing it at all, just letting everyone know that I have seen some variance in the product.

Re: AIM temp gauge at SSSS

Just putting this out there, Razorback did release a dimming version of their gauge. They had it at Sand Sports Super Show, it did what it said and you touch it and it dimms, keep touching it and it will cycle more dimm low to all the way bright. I didn't ask cost though as I already have their standard and wasn't going to buy another one strictly because it dimms. Just letting people know it is available now. The one that connects with a fan and cause fan to crank up speed as belt temp rises is also available, but I have no interest in that one. IF I have a fan, I want it on high all the time. SO to me that version is pointless.

Re: AIM temp gauge at SSSS

I bought 2 at SSSS, was very impressed. $299+tax.

Now I need suggestions: I have completely used up all dashboard space with Ride Command, PCI radios and switches. No more room for this. The AIM staff at the booth had no suggestions, no ideas.

I want to mount on the top of the steering column, with some type of pipe clamp or billet clamp around the steering column and then a ring housing for the unit. Axia Alloy had nothing workable at SSSS.

Any good suggestions? Don't want lots of fastener height, needs to fit visual view through steering wheel (Turbo S), not elevated to be obstructed by the wheel.

Thanks!

Assuming it is a standard 2 1/16" gauge pod, you need a bracket that mounts to the steering column. Alba racing has them but only in a triple pod version. I know many companies have something similiar in different arrangements https://teamalbaracing.com/i-2390051...pod-mount.html

You read the post lol? Both the dimming version and fan controllable version are available now, as stated. They were selling them at the sand show. Not sure if they're on their website, just call them if not.
