Xp, xpt or ??

Well after 5 years of happy trails on my 900S, I'm ready for something a little bigger and more comfy. When 2020 models are released, I'll be purchasing a new sxs. My dilemma is, I have no idea as of yet to what that will be. As a side note, I've also decided that I will never get rid of my little S. I love that machine and can't fit anything bigger in our toy hauler anyway, so the 900 stays

I'm not exactly brand loyal to Polaris so I've checked out most popular brands in 2019 models. The x3, never driven one. Really like the way it looks, but couldn't get over the seating position. I'm a short guy and could barely see past the hood. Ruled out the can am..

Checked out the Honda talon. Definitely a sweet looking ride but it will probably take a couple years for aftermarket parts to be readily available, and there was a few things about it I didn't like. Also a lot of reviews saise it needs more power. I've had lots of hondas over the years and they've always been great machines so haven't ruled out the Talon just yet.

Xp. It would probably make the most sense at this point. It's been around for a while and proven to be a good solid machine. Also tons of aftermarket parts available. Can't go wrong with an xp right?

Xpt? Why not? I do mostly trail riding at places like Hatfield and macoys so in reality would never need all that power, we rarely go over 50 mph. But having the extra power is never a bad thing and the turbo has beefier components. My concern is the reliability factor of the turbo over the standard xp. More parts, more things that could break? Does the turbo hotter? I dunno. Also dont like any of the color schemes of the 2019 xpt's other then the dynamix and dont think I need active smart shocks. Too much electronics for me. My color scheme has always been black and red, maybe their will be different color options for 2020.

So what would you guys get? Would love to hear others opinions on which direction they'd go. Thanks!

Re: Xp, xpt or ??

Just my two cents Dan, but I'd get Turbo S. already built and geared for 32s and has long travel. Though I rarely have a width issue on the trails I ride...and yes I'm a 100% trail guy.

Re: Xp, xpt or ??

I love my 2018 fox xpt2. In 2018, i too didnít like the color options for the turbo models.

I did remove the catalitic converter to remove the exhaust heat more efficiently. That turbo glows red, its scary at first.

For the price difference compared to the upgraded components that you get between a xp and xpt, go for the xpt.

The 2018 xpt fox iS red and black like you want. I can tell you that the 2018 xpt have been very reliable. I have only had a front diff leak, that was covered. I am at 4000 miles on mine and have no ragrets!

The XPT or XPT S is a better machine in every category than a XP. Drivetrain, suspension, brakes, engine, steering, clutches, everything.....It's not about the additional power but about a better machine.

Re: Xp, xpt or ??

So I guess out of the rzr category the xpt is the popular choice. The turbo S is just huge. I sat in one at the dealership, had to be the coolest sxs I'd ever seen, but it was as big as my truck. Think I'm gonna stay at 64 inch, at least this time around.

Did the cat delete being down temps sufficiently and eliminate the red glow? Would a slip on exhaust cool things down even more? I know absolutely nothing about turbos

Re: Xp, xpt or ??

For the difference in price, just get the turbo, working on the same decision myself currently I just can't find a reason NOT to buy the turbo, unless saving $1500 is a requirement.

Tell me about it! What is up with 2019 turbo color choices? I was at the dealer just Saturday, ready to trade my S4 900 up for a new XPT4 and the dealer offered me a fair deal with my purchase, but I was just so put off by the color choice I decided to let it go...

On the other hand, the sky blue xp 1000 looks fantastic to me, but not offered in the turbo this year....

Yep, its blue or orange. Dont really like the LE color scheme either. I like the dynamix colors but dont want that machine lol.. hopefully more color options for 2020

Damn, I'm talking like I've already decided on an xpt

Re: Xp, xpt or ??

Turbo!!

I dealt with this recently too. I was purchasing my first SxS and had only ridden in a couple friends a couple times. I ride all trails. I didn't like the color options of the Turbo models either. And being my first unit, I wasn't concerned about having the extra power. But considering I race motorcycles, the idea of the extra power was definitely a nice thought.

I decided to go with it, not for the extra power, but for the better components. If I don't use the extra power, it just means those beefier components should last that much longer.

And I am beyond happy with my choice. Do wish they had other color options though.

Don't think you'll get a better deal than what's out there right now if you wait. Also you may not like next years color either. I bought the white and it's not really orange, it's more of a rust. The color has grown on me since I bought it.

So you think the price will go up in June and July? With the 2020 models being announced around July/August. Im thinking of giving myself 2 weeks to try to sell mine outright and if not successful, then just go back and take the dealer's trade in deal.

Also, since you bought the color I was looking at, matte pearl white. What are you thoughts on finding color matching accessories like roof, and bumpers? Seems that both the pearl white and "rust" red would be very hard to match and you would be limited to picking black accessories.

Re: Xp, xpt or ??

Have you looked at the RZR XP 1000 Trails & Rocks? Since you don't go over 50 MPH, I would get the Trails & Rocks. It has stronger components, high clearance suspension, and lower low range gear. I feel it's suited better for trail riding and rock climbing than the turbo.

Re: Xp, xpt or ??

Plankk, yes the rust? color is hard to match since the arms and hood are a little different shades. The white pearl is something Polaris has been using for awhile. I bought a white roof and think it looks good on it. I also bought the Highlifter front bumper which only comes in orange. I thought it might be ok, but in the end thought it clashed to much and I painted it black.

I do think the prices will go back up for awhile on the 2020's. They've got a good rebate right now until the end of the month. They don't seem to discount the new models for a couple of months after the release.

If you get a chance, could you post a pic of with the white roof? Like to see how it turned out.
