Usa DG Tailgate Support

Has anyone used DGs Tailgate Support Bars, if so how do you like them?
I have a Silverado 1500 1/2 ton pickup I would like to be able to haul around my 900 trail for day trips, instead of hooking up my toyhauler. The problem is the ass end/front end of the 900 will be resting on the tailgate and I don't trust the standard cables. I have already installed a set of air bag suspension supports when I got the toyhauler.

What are they made out of? If they are steel I see no problem using them.

I have them. Use them on my silverado 2500 when I put a quad in the back of my truck.
Gives me a little more peace of mind. It does say on instructions, not to use when hauling, only for loading, but I keep mine on there when hauling.

Re: DG Tailgate Support

I bought some stainless straps someone was making like the metal ones they use to put on pickups before the cables and put on my 06 gmc. They give you piece of mind over cable but you can still put to much weight on tailgate and bend the cup part that the tailgate pivots on if not careful. Mine bent some but it's all still functional. Latch is just a little tougher to pull to open.

Re: DG Tailgate Support

I use them but they have bent the sheet metal that the tailgate inserts go in so my tailgate is hard to close

Yes if you load them heavy they can do that, mine did. Easy fit to bend the upper latches back.

Re: DG Tailgate Support

I ordered a set for my f-150.. Ordered them on a Tues, they shipped same day and will be here on Thursday...
I loaded the RZR in the back of the truck reverse when I picked it up at dealership because they had a loading ramp to back into, didn't have the bars yet so it was a nerve racking 20 miles back home..
Will eventually get a trailer but for now it is being loaded in back of bed...

Re: DG Tailgate Support

I have them on my Chevy 2500 and drive the RZR in front first and they work great. Just connect to bed and tailgate and go.

Re: DG Tailgate Support

I have them for my 2008 Silverado 1500, not sure they do much of anything. I can't tell if the latches on the tailgate are plastic... or plastic covering metal. The DG supports are loose with the tailgate down as all load is on the cables. Not sure what happens during loading, if the cables stretch just enough to distribute more load onto the DG supports. So yea, between potential plastic latches and sloppy brackets... in my case it seems like a waste of money.

My bed is 8ft, I pull the RZR in forward, rear tires end up on the bed/tailgate hinge point so I'm not concerned about transport, only loading. I replaced the cables, even though the old ones looked in good repair - never know what they are like under the crimped section.

Re: DG Tailgate Support

Could always put a 2x12 board the length of your bed/rzr under each side of the rzr to distribute the load.
