Skids...Factory Utv or Cooter Brown?

I'm having trouble trying to decide which skids to go with...I've already decided to run UHMW skids, but now I'm just trying to figure out where to get them from? Input would be greatly appreciated

Any excuse to put the rzr in the dirt is a good one

Re: Skids...Factory Utv or Cooter Brown?

I bought from FUTV. I went with the 1/2"
skid. Top quality product. It will take anything
on and doesn't even show marks. They have a 3/8"
skid also which works great to. You can't go wrong
with there skidplates. They also work on SxS.
They've worked on mine several times and went
above the call of duty on installing my shocks.
Two of the shocks were missing some parts and they
made new parts for me. Again there skidplates are top notch.

I have the cheap ones from eBay. They have taken me through Moab and Colorado and look good. I bought the FUTV A-arm skids though.

Happy with 1/2" FUTV. However, from another thread, one poster had it right--if you live close to FUTV, go with them (shipping will kill you). If you live close to EMP, go with them (same reason).

Re: Skids...Factory Utv or Cooter Brown?

Actually shipping is about the same no matter where you are because our skids jump to the large package category with UPS which is where the cost is. Hoping the XP has a frame that will support being able to make a 2 piece skid without giving up structural strength. We just don't feel like the 800 does. Couple of FUTV differences, we offer a UHMW fuel tank gaurd for forum members at no extra cost, we prebend the skids to match the contour of the RZR, we machine our skids for bumpers and for nerf bars and we offer 3/8 and the ultra tough 1/2 inch.

Last edited by Factory UTV; February 4th, 2011 at 06:03 PM. Reason: Added that we prebend skids

Re: Skids...Factory Utv or Cooter Brown?

Both are outstanding quality companies I have purchased from both!
I have FUTV on my 08 and about to purchase a full set from FUTV on my 09-s along with FUTV side rock slider's. I think its really up to you I do not think you would go wrong with either!
But being I am a native Californian and damn proud of it no matter what my kin say, as there all a bunch of cowboys from Texas or New Mexico.
FUTV is in California if I can support and help keep a company in California I am buying from FUTV! No matter how screwed up the politicians have made this state!
OK I will get off my soap box now! Sorry!

I proudly use and recommend products and services from these supporting vendors;

Makin'Trax, Pro Armor, DG Offroad, SxSPerformance, EMP, Factory UTV, HOLZ, Rugged Radios, Super ATV, UTV Inc.

I would say go with FUTV for your skids. I dont have them yet, I am just running the stock one and beating the [email protected] out of them. I have seen up close what they can take. I just have to save for them, racing something always happens. I wont even waste my money on cheap look alikes to save a dime.

Careful with that. They take very little, and your frame takes the brunt.

I'm thinking about buying the cheap ones too. Have you really tested it out on big rocks and what not? My factory one is completely trashed after bottoming out on rocks.

Re: Skids...Factory Utv or Cooter Brown?

FUTV are great, install was a snap, much easier than I imagined. And I like the one piece set up as well. Just wish I had ordered it a few days earlier, it arrived just after Snowmaggedon 2011 and would have made a hell of a sled!
