Re: Which is faster or the same?...1000S or 1000XP

Cant say it's faster but an S rolled trying to keep up with me on the GP track at Durhamtown in GA. I have an XP 100 hp opposed to 110 hp. The suspension is way better on the XP

I would bet the S is slightly faster with less weight and smaller tires

Smaller tires might mean quicker, not faster.

Re: Which is faster or the same?...1000S or 1000XP

The s will be quicker to maybe 40 mph than the Xp will pass it. has higher top speed at limiter s =75 mph Xp=85 mph. S has a better turning radius Xp has better suspension

Re: Which is faster or the same?...1000S or 1000XP

Can't speak about the XP1000 VS a 1000S but when I raced my brother in his 1000S with my old XP900 I killed him every time. The 1000S didn't seem to put the power down as well right off the bat. The XP900 would leave harder and then stay ahead throughout.

Re: Which is faster or the same?...1000S or 1000XP

Isn't that part of the reason Polaris detuned the 900? Cause it was too close to the 1000? My 14 900xp really ran strong. Supposedly the dude that bought it is pissing all his buddies with the 1000 off.....I guess if you do the math on the hp to weight ratio of 88 hp 900 and the 100 hp 1000, the 900 is better. If I remember correctly.
esple likes this.

evo stage2 tune, evo bov, osp clutch kit, Polaris half windshield, Polaris roof, siezmik mirrors, prp door bags, trinity stage5 exhaust, 3p shims, a little rubber bendy pink panther dude hanging on the roll cage for dear life! and I'm sure I'm missing some stuff.

The detuning was due to that and the S having a suspension the is less suited for higher speeds.

So your saying the 900S was detuned because the chassis couldn't handle it, but then they put a stronger, faster 1000 in the same chassis ??

Good point. Not sure but isn't the speed limited lower on the 1000S than the XP?

Re: Which is faster or the same?...1000S or 1000XP

My 17' hits 74 MPH, when I actually have a time/place to ride it out.

Dunes, or trails, I am typically below 50 MPH, and that's strictly because of what's in front of me. S1K low gear limit at 45 MPH. No sweat.

At the dunes there's always gonna be something faster. I'm cool with that, because I still can keep tight. I've seen CA X3's haull ass through Comp Valley at Dumont. We all make it to the top.

Tight trails is where the S prevails.

I can always buy width, and that's cheaper than chopping down a tree, or bypassing a restriction gate.

I've been looking for a straight up drag race against an XP from the first time I turned the key on this S1K. WGAF! They're both fun, and fast!

IIRC, the 900S was rated 75HP from the factory. The early XP1K, and 16'/17' S1K motors were rated at 100HP. The 900 motor takes tuning well, and shows significant gains with intake/exhaust/tune, and power is comparable to the 1000cc motors.

To muddy the water(confuse buyers/maeket/sell), the XP HO motors got bumped to 110HP. The XP chassis is heavier enough so the P/W is negligable on paper.

Still comes down to what you need/like.

Re: Which is faster or the same?...1000S or 1000XP

I know around here very rarely do you see a 1000s on the trail. Mostly 900 s and 1kxp. Although the x3 is getting huge around here also. Drove one all day Friday and Friday night at brimstone . Absolutely bad ass. It still has its quirks but I loved it. My xp1k has been nothing more than an expensive piece of crap. Motor cases split twice , tranny pulled twice, numerous check engine lights, limp mode, clutch problems, the list goes on and on. Now intake boot has split from the last time at the dealer. Less than 1200 miles on my 16 model solely because it's always in the shop...... Normally I average 2k miles a year

The super duper X3 is a mean machine. Can't help but pay attention to the 2 seater triple black.
