Need radio help...

Not looking to buy radios, but I'm looking for a post that I read early this morning, that was displayed when I searched by clicking on the "New Posts" button, above.

A member had created a post that included some pictures of two-way radios that he and a group of friends had bought. These radios were mounted on what looked to be on the top of the cages. I believe he also mentioned that there were 5-6 friends in his group that all bought these radios. I started reading the post, but got pulled away, and now I can't find it again.

If anyone can help me find this post, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Re: Need radio help...

I haven't seen the post you mentioned but what are you looking for in radios? There is a huge amount of options out there from $$ to $$$$. To get into it really cheap you can just use handhelds. If you are the slightest bit tech savvy you can get handheld from Amazon for $25 each and program them yourself with free software and a $5 cable. Or you don't want to get into that get Rugged radios already programmed and ready to rock. Handhelds are all you need for group riding. If you want to take the next step then get an intercom system and headsets to allow you and passengers to talk to each other while munitioning the radio or either being able to talk on the radio. The intercoms also allow you to listen to your music and it mutes or turns down whenever anyone talks. Staying with the Rugged freqs allows you to have comms with anyone anywhere you ride in the country which is really nice.

Re: Need radio help...

Like I said above, I'm not looking to buy a radio. It was just a thread that I should have subscribed to, but didn't. There was some pictures within that thread that, I wanted to look at closer, for a possible future project. As for wearing a headset while riding... I'm nowhere near ever being interested in that option.

The same thing has happened on here in the past. I'd see a thread that caught my attention and went back later and could never find it.

Thanks for the response, though!

Yeah I reread you post after I posted a response. As for your comment about not wanting to wear headsets, that made me grin because I always said the same thing until less than a year ago when I tried them My riding buddy thinks headsets are silly to and always asks why I wear mine but he was never tried them.

I almost suspected that would be something like your response. And I started to add this earlier... so I have to confess. I wear radio headsets for work. From anywhere as little as three hours at a time, to as much as twelve hours at a time. So I'm VERY familiar with them. And I refuse to wear them when I'm not working, and trying to enjoy some personal time, away from all the chaos, stress and noise. The last thing I want, is to have those god-awful damn things on my head. In fact, if it was a law to wear them while riding... I'd GIVE my RZR away.

LOL, I heard that! Getting as far away from work is what this hobby is all about! I don't wear mine unless there are others on a ride with radios also and if my wife is along so we can talk.

I just noticed where you're from... There was a guy yesterday on facebook looking to part out an 800S in Picayune.
