Sounds easy enough.

Heat gun is a great tool to have in your tool box!! Multi purpose!!

Re: Skids - Aluminum or UHMW ???

I'm just curious here -- How many have had issues with their stock skid??

Mine is beat up pretty good, got a few deep cuts, small chunks missing and it's all scratched up. I've bottomed hard in many places, slid over rocks, smacked into rocks, gotten hung up on several occasions - yet my stock skid still protected me enough to not break anything.

That being said, I'll likely be upgrading it this summer since it is so beat up. I'll be going with UHMW

Re: Skids - Aluminum or UHMW ???

I have seen many stock skids trashed on one ride in serious trails and rocks. Ripped, holes punched through ETC. Another big shortcoming is the lack of protection under the floorboards on both sides. A limb can punch through rather easily and hurt someone badly.

Re: Skids - Aluminum or UHMW ???

Factory UTV 3/8" UHMW for me. My issues with aluminum are that they deform after a lot of use and fill your hands with slivers when removing and replacing them.

UHMW slides over the rocks. Aluminum screeches over them.

There is no better test of Skid Plate performance than the King Of Hammers. In 2018 Every UTV that finished ran Factory UTV UHMW Skid Plates. In 2019 the Top 10 Pro UTV King Of Hammers racers ran Factory UTV UHMW Skid Plates. Nuf said...
