Re: Weber motor ???

I can hook you up with a new Weber 110HP for 2500 PWC version so it will take a couple of mods. They have all electrical, turbo etc.

Re: Weber motor ???

Johnny it does not appear to be any larger than the stock RZR motor. Not sure you need the turbo though. My redline hauls A$$ without it .
I'll find you at the crash this weekend so you can check it out.

I'm not old, I've just been around a long time.

Re: Weber motor ???

The price is 2500 bucks.
There are guys doing the conversion as we speak.
The only question I have is will the clutch system be a direct bolt on for the sled/atv or does the crank end need to be changed??
I'll check again today.

Re: Weber motor ???

O.K. I found out you DO have to swap the crank for the sled unit. Randy will trade you cranks but you'd have to perform the labor.
So 2500 bucks for 110 HP...it seems well worth the effort to me..

Re: Weber motor ???

I found this link trying to look up Weber specs:

MiniBuggy.Net Forums Motor - Engine sled motor swap research

This is from the Ridge Runner forum. It looks like someone there is trying to find Weber motors to replace the Polaris 800 it has (same as RZR?).

I'm very interested in the engine swapping approach for more horsepower. It looks like a turboed RZR would only be able to get 20 extra horses reliably with the crank design.

I'm thinking a turbo kit would be around $5 to $6K which would be comparable to an engine swap.

The forum mentioned that the Weber 750 is found in Polaris FS snowmobiles.

Re: Weber motor ???

Thanks for keeping us informed Marty. I see there is a lot of buzz going on over on PRC about the Weber. Now I see that the Alba approach (yakahosu?) is to install a middle crank support. That may make a turbo worth while now. Interesting stuff.

Re: Weber motor ???

The Rhino conversions I've seen the most info on are Yamaha R1 1000CC motorcycle conversions, and the Rotax 800 twin cyclinder V-twin. I'm not sure where the Rotax comes from but I think its out of a Can-Am quad.

The Weber in question is the 750 MPE twin cylinder engine that is used in Polaris watercraft and snowmobiles, and also the Redline Revolt.
Since it is already used in Polaris products it should be an easier swap than another type of motor.

It's a versatile little engine that the Germans designed back in 1996. What makes it even better is that it can come with a turbo in stock form already mounted to the motor to get OEM type ~110 HP! (Polaris PWCs with this same motor can get 130HP!)

This motor imho is superior to the RZR's and why Polaris didn't use it in the RZR must be known only to the bean counters or lawyers.

Re: Weber motor ???

The reason for not using the Weber engines is cost.
The PWC engines are rated at 110 and 150 HP with mods safely into the 165HP range.
There are a few PWC shops that have conversion kits to run the 110 units up to 150HP. Jay at Atlantic Powersports comes to mind.

Re: Weber motor ???

the mpe's are really expensive and in full force at 156+ hp would probably destroy a rzr driveline.. but wasteland is going to do the 100hp version as an exchange i'm anxious to see what a rzr will do with one

Re: Weber motor ???

I was asking about racing so the turbo that is factory mounted would not be much help because most racing leagues do not allow forced induction except in the like super crazy big money all out mod class ha ha! thanks for the info on the 750 MPE fellas
