Re: Mt. Ridge atv park (central city pa)

Been there a half dozen times. So far my favorite of the parks in W PA. I'm in Greensburg and takes me roughly an hour or so to get there. Shamrock and Gunners Run are two great trails. All trails are one way, so it is nice not to worry about someone coming at you on a trail.

Re: Mt. Ridge atv park (central city pa)

Since the trails are one-way... how crowded are they? It's great not having traffic coming at me... but that's only slight better than going 8mph behind traffic going the same way haha

i've never ridden in PA.. just VA and WV. Are there other places in PA people would recommend?

Not terribly crowded. There are 3000 acres and many trails to ride. I was there last year when the place was packed for the Cancer ride and still did not have issues with traffic.

Went on a Monday late last summer and there were only 4 trucks in the parking area when we arrived. We rode for an hour or so then came out to the truck to eat lunch and all the other trucks were gone. 3 of us had the entire park to ourselves.

Rock Run is decent. Tri county I have been to twice and do not care for it. Mines and meadows I hear is pretty rough. Indian Creek Valley is a member only place near champion and it is kinda small. I was on Rock House and Devils Anse this past weekend and loved it.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah -- I pretty much only ride down in the southern WV area (some HM, mostly outlaws).. but the PA stuff is closer to me.

I've been tempted to try Mt Ridge since it is 175 miles or so closer to me than southern WV -- but didn't want to arrive at a tiny rock fest full of people

Re: Mt. Ridge atv park (central city pa)

I loved mt ridge when we were there last year. Trails were clearly marked and manicured, the family who owned it were as polite as can be and it has everything from hill climbs to mud to rocks. Also, it wasnt crowded at all. Im used to riding mines and meadows where the trails get really congested but here there are so many acres it was awesome.

I was at HMT with 6 others that knew the trails well, but not any of the outlaw trails. How does one gain more info about the outlaw trails?

Re: Mt. Ridge atv park (central city pa)

I live pretty close to mt ridge. I usually hit it up a couple times a year. Its not too bad. You could probably ride it two days... anything more would probably get a little boring. There are a few rock trails that are legit rocks, takes a few hours to navigate them. That shamrock trail is probably my favorite, fast and tight. Weekends get a little busy, thru the week will be the best. They actually have some decent camp sites available... So Id say drag the camper with ya and plan a couple days to ride.

We where just there stayed in Man, hired a guide took us on outlaws amazing ride. Also learned how to get from Warrior system to pinnacle in an hour. Minimal road riding mostly outlaws.
