Has anyone out there put internal beadlocks in their tires yet? I have seen them in the Jeeps and thinking about getting them for the rzr. Anybody have any experience, thoughts, or suggestions on where to find a good deal on them?
There was a thing called a Tire Johnny, but I cant get there web page to open.
It was a foam thing about 8" in diameter and 5' long. It worked like tire balls but was a lot easier to put in. I was going to buy them, but never did. I don't know who the dealer is?
I am concerned about the weight myself. The main reason I am thinking about them is twice I have gotten into some mud that was so thick that I had to be pulled out and it pulled a tire off the bead! Then I knocked one off in a roll... Just have bad luck...
Now I have two tires that always seem to loose air, but there are no holes or anything like that...
Maybe the rim is bent a little depending how hard the roll was? Or maybe the bead has a small tear in it from being pulled off the rim while being pulled out of the mud pit?
I was pretty sure I had no need for them until out last trip to Moab.
I managed to unseat a bead and it would have happened even with traditional steel ring bead lock because it unseated the inside bead.
I like the idea a lot (now) and they are proven to work.
I'll have Stauns before my next trip to Moab.
I went a look'n and found them "on sale" at 4wheel Parts Wholesale. Are you ready for this? $133.19 each + shipping.
But, I think they would work great. You also get some run-flat capabilities.
