Bighorns or Swamp Lites
I have been reading posts for weeks trying to decide between 27" Swamp Lites or Bighorns. Everyone seems to like the Bighorns and I don't see many comments about the Swamp Lites. I have been leaning towards the Swamp Lites because they have deeper lugs (1 1/4") and because most of the people that love the Bighorns are seem to be mostly using them for rock climbing. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and most of my riding will be on muddy, soft trails, with some hard pack as well. But there is a lot of swamps and soft tundra around here. Anyone out there got an opinion on the applicability of either of these tires for these types of terrain? I might use them in the snow too, but I am thinking of studding my stock tires with ice screws and using them for the winter.
By the way I am hoping to get ITP SS212 wheels, but I can't seem to find a wide offset for our 4/156 bolt pattern. Any suggestions on a good offset (they are 7" wheels), I would prefer to not use a spacer. Thanks |

Re: Bighorns or Swamp Lites
ss212 doesnt come in the wide offset just the 112's. You will need 1.5 or 2" spacers with the 212 and either of those tires. There is a new tire out, it looks like a bighorn on steriods its wicked looking, call matt at atv outfitters and ask him about it.

Re: Bighorns or Swamp Lites
Thanks for the confirmation Megacab, that's what I was thinking too.
That is a bummer about the SS212, I like the way they look, so maybe I will consider spacers. Thanks for the info Gunrunner. I will checked out the prices on ATV tires plus, but they were not as cheap as ATV outfitters. |
