?Best Mud and Snow Radial Tires?

Has anybody tried the Maxxis Mud Bog Radial or the MudLight XTR? I here the Big Horns have good reviews for a trail tire but what about in the mud and snow? Any other suggestions?

Re: ?Best Mud and Snow Radial Tires?

the mud lite XTR are a great tire. I owned a set of 27", tyhe only downfall is the sidewall is super thin. I stuck more sticks through those walls, I had to get rid of them. I purchased the 27" swamp lites and have never looked back. Best Tire for mud and snow.

Re: ?Best Mud and Snow Radial Tires?

I have the Mud Bug R tires. I can't comment on how well they do in mud yet. I've crossed a couple streams but haven't got into any real thick mud yet. I wanted a good all-purpose tire and these aren't. I thought the pointy lugs would dig in good on curves but they don't hook well on hardpack and push pretty bad.

I don't think I've heard of the perfect tire yet.

I want to hear more about the Swamplites. I got swayed away from them with the deadly "you get what you pay for" warning.

Well I paid more but still didn't get what I'm looking for.

Re: ?Best Mud and Snow Radial Tires?

just to let you know..i live in northern alberta, Canada. We have gross thick mud, lots of snow and crazy weather. I have been an avid quadder since my first honda 125, and I have never had a better tire. I have the 27" on my bomby 800 and seriously, no one can come near me in the snow or mud. I have not received my rzr yet, supposed to be done tomorrow, but I will go and see. Today in the snow, I kicked the crap out of all my friends in the snow, my one pal even had 28" outlaws...no comparison. Really happy with my purchase. Your friend who said "you get what you pay for" obviously has paid for sex!!

Re: ?Best Mud and Snow Radial Tires?

The 27 swamplites sound interesting. What do they actually measure for height, and what rims are they mounted on? I tried 27 XTR'S (11X14 rear and 9X14 front)and had problems rubbing on the front left floorboard and the right rear by the exhaust. Those tires measued 27 1/2 tall. I have 1"spacers and a 3" lift.

Re: ?Best Mud and Snow Radial Tires?

The XTR's are square flat Radials so the width will be more than the same height tire with rounded sides, I beleive the rub is caused by that.. So this
imagine these as the top of the tire,.. [ or ( , hope this is understandable..
As for wheels I ordered mine with ITP SS112 X 14"

Re: ?Best Mud and Snow Radial Tires?

i have the 27" x12" in the rear of my rzr, with no lift,no spacer and shocks set on the second from top and no rub at all. In all my past experience I wouldn't recommend 14" rims. They look cool as hell, but because they are 2" taller, you lose that much sidewall, and mine ,once they ccame of the bead the first time, they came off every trip after that. I got so mad I went out and bought 12" roms and no problems yet.
