Maxxis BigHorn's Anyone tried them yet
Evening Guys,
Just wondering if anyone has tried them yet on their RZR? I had a set on a Grizzly and thought they were great.
Also anyone know the largest size tire/wheel you can go with, without adding a lift? Thinking about stepping up to a 26 or 27 9x12
Thanks
Jimmy

Re: Maxxis BigHorn's Anyone tried them yet
I have a friend of mine who has a pack of like 7 rzrs. Almost all of them have them. They say it is the best all around tire, and most resistant to rock punctures.

You wouldn't know what size tire/wheel combo he's using would you?

Re: Maxxis BigHorn's Anyone tried them yet
I have 26" Big Horns on stock offset Polaris Alloys w/1" spacers. They rub a fair amount on the exhaust header retaining spring. Anything larger would rub badly even with a lift and or wider spacers. You might get away with 27" if you ran spacers on wider offset rims or run a long travel kit. The 26" Big Horns actually run taller then 27" ITP's.

Mine don't rub in the front. Your's do probably because of the wider offset rims. Everyone seems to have that issue on after market rims. I'm only 1" wider on each side. In the back, on the other hand, your extra offset gets your tire away from the header.

Re: Maxxis BigHorn's Anyone tried them yet
As a side question, what about the upgrade wheels and tires from Polaris?
Any problems with them rubbing on stock suspension? I am considering them as I do not know much about aftermarket stuff yet.

If your talking about the ones in the pure Polaris book "bruisers & Crushers", I have them on both my rig's and love them, however as soon as the tires wear out soon I hope I'm dumping those MTR's for big horns..

I would rather have a ITP SS wheel. The SS series have a lifetime "if you break it we replace it" warranty. My local shop told me they call them up, say I have a ITP SS 108 machined that is broke, and they send another one no questions asked. I see on purepolaris.com 14" bruisers with MT run 850. I would rather put the same amount of money in a better wheel and tire.

Re: Maxxis BigHorn's Anyone tried them yet
Could you provide specifics of what to get from ITP for rim front and rear? Are these wheels offset or do they require spacers? So much to figure!
They would be lighter in weight I guess too.
I know I'm not quite even a Noob yet and do appreciate the info guys.

All the Vision Rims, including the Polaris Alloys, were warranted for life long before ITP started warrantying some of their rims for life. Vision forced ITP's hand on that one.

Re: Maxxis BigHorn's Anyone tried them yet
I have 26-9-12's all the way around, and I love them. I think ITP makes another radial with a similiar tread pattern. Mine have about 800 miles and I think they're about 50% done. (more in the back, less in the front)
