Re: bighorns or terracross?

If you search you will find there have been quite a few experts on tyres in months gone by, but when I asked about bighorns recently it seems the knowledge bank had dried up.

There really needs to be a definitive guide for tyres - SXS Action mag tried to do one but it was little more than a copy of the manufacturers marketing bumpf. I want to know how good a tyre is on each surface, but also how well it rides, how long it lasts, how often it punctures and how badly it tears up a trail.

Sorry I can't be of any more help, I have the bighorns but havn't tried the terracross so would be silly of me to recommend one over the other - though I did pick the bighorns because (from what I had read) they seemed tough as old nails whereas the terracross were said to be not as durable.

Re: bighorns or terracross?

I got the C-7s because on the backside of the spoke is flat so it shouldn't hold as much mud. I think my next tires will be the bighorns. I've got 26" Swamp lites and they wear quick but you don't get stuck in muskag to often.

Re: bighorns or terracross?

I got the Terracross as soon as the new "XD" version was available. Supposedly cures the puncture complaints. I probably would have gotten the Bighorns instead if they were available in 26X11X12. I'm trying to stay at 50" (ended up at 51). Taking all the plusses I've heard about both tires I think they're equal except for weight.

Re: bighorns or terracross?

I have both and LOVE them both!! I have 14" TerraCross on my Brute and 14" BigHorns on my RZR. I like them equally! If I had to lean more one way, I would say the Bighorn's will last a little longer. They're not rounding off as fast as the Terracross' did. However, I think the new XD Terracross would be the ticket!! My distributor didn't have them when I got the Bighorns or I would have prob got them!

Re: bighorns or terracross?

I experienced deep mud and boggy vegetation on monday for the first time with the bighorns. Wow! Okay, so it's not a mud tyre - but I was really surprised as I expected to get stuck. I need to lift my RZR and install better shocks because the bighorns will only give up long after the RZR itself has expired.

CA Re: bighorns or terracross?

I just installed 12" T-7 beadlocks with 25" big horns. I noticed in the store that the bighorns were 2" taller than the terracross tires in the exact same size. The terracross tire looks like it has a better footprint, although the bighorn gives you better clearance, looks and the performance is as good if not better. The 25" bighorn was also taller than the 26" terracross. I bought mine at KG motorcycle tires in CA on the net and they were awesome to deal with and were cheapest and they delivered in 3 days.
