26" Bighorn Pressures?
I've searched everywhere and can't find a topic on bighorn pressures. Mine are 26" on 14" wheels. I've put 8psi in for now but on PRC they seem to be running anywhere between 10-15 psi. Any advice and explanation why I need to run higher pressures?

Re: 26" Bighorn Pressures?
I too have 26" bighorns mounted on T-7 itp beadlock wheels. I ran 4psi in them for some rock crawling (to gain a larger footprint on the rocks)and ended up breaking an axle. I now run 15psi in them mainly to gain just a little bit of ground clearance. They grab well on the rocks and I havent had any traction issues and besides if I need lower psi its much easier to let air out than to put it in on the trail.

Re: 26" Bighorn Pressures?
Wow, 15psi - that's a lot! I'm a little concerned about ride quality and wearing out the centre of the tyre faster with such "high" pressures, but I definetly don't want to overgrip and break an axle (though without beadlocks, I suspect I would be more likely to pop the bead out). A little extra ground clearance wouldn't hurt.
I ride on a wide range of conditions, wet trails, a few little rocks, soft dirt, occasional mud, and plenty of sizeable fallen branches and the occasional full size log, but most of the time I am just getting there on hardpack.
What do the rest of you run, and why?

Re: 26" Bighorn Pressures?
Update - after switching to the 26" bighorns on 14" rims from the stock tyres I've noticed the ride quality has deteriorated quite a bit. I had expected an improvement, particulary as people say radials are a lot better in this respect (though I'm not sure how a stiffer tyre can improve ride quality).
I've worked out my own loss in ride quality is down to a number of reasons:
* My wheels + tyres have added nearly 40lbs of unsprung weight... I think that's the biggest reason in ride quality loss
* Going to a 14" rim... less sidewall flex to absorb bumps... I'm also wondering how much a 14" rim contribuited to the weight gain, I wonder if 12" wheels + 26" bighorns would have been lighter overall (though the tyres weigh more in this configuration)
* Going for 12 psi. I think 10psi is nearer the mark, though I think 12psi is more optimal from a performance point of view for me as I do quite a bit of miles on hardpack.
In any case I'm going to opt for 10psi and see if I can claw back a little of my ride quality. I should add that the ride is only a problem at the higher speeds of 30mph+ where it feels worse than before, at the lower speeds I think the effects of the wheels/tyres is reduced and it comes mainly down to just your suspension.
Apoligies for a long winded post on the subject!

Re: 26" Bighorn Pressures?
I just got 26" bighorns on SS112 rims and am running 11-12psi. What rims do you have. I haven't noticed much difference in the ride quality.

I have the bruisers, I'm guessing it's because they weigh so much - though it would be interesting to see the weights of comparable wheels.

Re: 26" Bighorn Pressures?
The tires are a harder compound and less side wall so ride quality is not as soft. However, with less side wall there is less tire roll hence she'll corner better and less likly to go over. I have 14" and 26" Bighorn but also LT with 19" shocks so the ride and performance is better overall. You may want to consider WERs or some other aftermarket shocks. I put stock length WERs on before I went LT and I notice a big improvement at higher speeds. I have a heavy RZR so I run 16 PSI in the rear and 14 PSI up front.

Re: 26" Bighorn Pressures?
So far I run 8-9 lbs in mine. I ride mostly sandy trails and dirt roads.
The ride seems good to me. When I picked the RZR up they had 5 in them and that seemed WAY to low.

Re: 26" Bighorn Pressures?
Somebody has told me they need "breaking in", as they are quite hard and will soften and become smoother after a couple of rides. Is this true, and something you guys have found?
