dunestar paddles or extremes?

I was wondering what would be a better set-up. Dunestar paddles all the way around or 8 paddle extremes in the rear with mohawk tires in the front? I mostly ride in the dunes and have 25" bighorns all the way around and it does good and it climbs hills pretty good. Does running any paddle set-ups that i have mentioned above make much of a difference and which set-up is better? I have exhaust, fuel controller and K&N filter.

Trust me there is no better set up than the Skat Trak extremes or similar set up. The last couple of dune trips last year I ran the Skat Trak 26x12x12 gliders and they worked great 7mph faster on top than the extremes. Either way weather you go with gliders or extremes it will be way better the dune stars.

Re: dunestar paddles or extremes?

Greg. Skat will mount the Glider paddles on a 26" tire? I always thought the Gliders were for small (kids) quads. Arent they only like a 1/2" tall paddle? I always wondered if you could get 4snows tires in a large enough diameter if it would be ideal for a UTV. So maybe those small paddles would provide enough bite without too much drag...?? Interesting. I know the Extremes work better than the Haulers, they flex too much apparently under the weight/power of the UTV's. Interesting.

What I noticed with the gliders is a more spin on take off but when duning it didn't dig in as much and felt like it was riding more on top of the sand plus the top speed gain.

I like the extremes and smoothies they float on top of the sand. I have had no problems with this set up.

Re: dunestar paddles or extremes?

Now when you run the extremes, awd is kind of out of the quetion right? I would think awd would do better when hill climbing and take offs when from a dead stop. Or does the paddles work that good to where i don't need to use awd in the dunes? I like to hill climb so i don't want to loose the ability to climb big hills.

I never run in 4wd just 2wd and I run the dunestars they suck they dig holes, no flotation at all in fact I think some aired down mudlight xl would be wayyy better then what I have now.

With the smoothies up front you will still get traction for climbing in AWD but the idea is they will not dig a rut for the rear tires to have to go through. The paddle smoothie set up works the best in my opinion and i have tested many set ups for duning.

I second that! And the mohawk fronts tend to wander at higher speeds and throw sand up in your face and cab. The smoothies do the job.

Re: dunestar paddles or extremes?

would it be ok to run 26x12-12 extremes on my ss108 12x7 wheels or should i get the douglas .190 wheels that are 12x8? Will that 1" difference in wheel width in the rear be an issue?

You will loose a little flotation but not that big of deal with the 26x12x12 but with the 25x10x12 you will loose even more flotation. I have tried 10" wides to 6" wides and the 8" wide work the best. So save up and by the douglas 8" wides plus they are the lightest wheel and weight is horse power!

Re: dunestar paddles or extremes?

sorry one more question. i noticed on utv unleashed website that they carry the 25X10-12 7 paddle extremes. Do they carry the 26x12-12 8 paddle extremes or is the 25x10-12 7 paddle better. All i have is exhaust, K&N, and fuel controller and soon a clutch kit.
