Re: Rims & Tires 12" vs 14" Pros & Cons?

The only real differance is wheel weight vs. rubber (tire) weight and the fact the sidewall will be less on 14, more on 12's. 12" tire may flex more due to taller sidewall. 14" may feel stiffer. I guess it all depends on the application you are using it for. 14" are now coming with tons of tire size options now. Paddles will be in 12"

Cool Thanks for the input. I think I will need to stick to the 12's We ride in the high desert gravel , sand & rocky terrain. I have little chunks off of the stock tires allready on the sidewalls from rocks and thick brush.

Yeah, I ride in high desert as well, sometime through some very rocky terrain. I perfer the 12" due to extra rubber give and wheels are a bit more protected from rocks.

I ride a little Glamis and alot of our river bottom here. River bottom has river crossings, quick sand , rocks, brush and silty dust. What a mess. I put the Polaris brand 14in. w/ Goodyear Rawhide MT/R and didn't notice a loss in power. I also fit thru the 50 in. wide post in the ground at Gorman (Hungry Valley) for the ATV Trails.

What is the wheel / tire width of those? Are the wheels still 6" wide with 8" tires on Front... 8" wheel w/ 10" tire on back? Also have you measured the width of the front/rear? Very curious to know of other options besides the Polaris 12" wheel. Keeping stock width. Thanks.

I haven't measured the width but the rims I got from the dealer are Polaris brand called "Crushers" They are in catalog from Polaris.

Oh, I'm pretty sure those will measure over 50". The only thing that I know of and have found are the Polaris 12" aluminum wheels. They keep me 50" wide. 14" Crushers and Bruisers that I've seen take it to 52-54".

I have a 6" Lone travel I can measure but I do not think in this case it would matter. Thanks for the replies! My RZR is + 12" total width. I think the rear measurement was like 63" for the rear . I ride in the desert mostly.
