That's true but it's so close to the stock tires--and any others installed at the dealers--that they should have located it 1 lousy inch forward. Wouldn't have cost them a cent.
Before I bought a set of the Polaris aluminum rims I put my well-worn set with Polaris PXT tires (26x11x12) on to check the fit. Very close:
Brand new tires might touch. Surely during development Polaris tried these stock Sportsman rims & tires and saw the potential for problems. I'm not complaining--they pulled off an impressive feat to cram that large a cockpit and decent-travel suspension in a 50" wide chassis. Compromises had to be made.
