Stock Reversal
Any thoughts on switching right and left side tires to change the off-set on stock wheels? I'm wondering if this is going to be too weak, it appears that it should make a difference.

Re: Stock Reversal
i have had it like that on my rhino since i've owned it... it does make a difference. the only problem doing it on the rzr is that the valve stem is going to hit on the brakes. what you can do is flip the valve stem so it is going in side the tire, then drill and add a new one on the opposite side. idk if its totally safe. done it once before and had no problems...

Re: Stock Reversal
i got the 2 inch spacers and flipped the rims and the valve stems clear the brakes. it adds alot to the width of the rzr. i just did this after i went riding this weekend so i havent been able to ride it to see how much stability it has added, but i can tell you it looks a hell of alot cooler. i've also heard that it adds stress to the bearings, but flipping over all the time adds stress to me so oh well. btw the rim flipping alone will add like 4 inches to the width

Its the same thing... switching sides by going straight across puts the wheels inside/out. Same affect, one just requires you to walk around the vehicle. LOL

I don't think it the same thing ;-)
One has valve stem out
and the other way has valve stem in
You can take a wheel /tire to the other side and still have valve stem out. but your tire pattern is going the other dirrection.
It's your tire pattern that make a diff and the location of your wheel + your valve stem location ;-)

uh, no. its not the same thing. the offset is different with the valves stems on the inside vs on the outside. different than switching from side to side!! but your valvestems will hit the calipers if your dont replace them with smaller 1's on the inside...Did I confuse?!?!?

Re: Stock Reversal
I flipped my rear and front tires with 1.5inch wheel spacers, and ya it looks cool but the fronts rub the inside body when you turn and the performance of the tread pattern backwards is horrible.
At least in sand. It will give you +10 inches of width but after doing it I could barley make it up olds at Glamis and wasnt even close on Lizard hill. The tread pattern is made to work in the stock direction and its a night and day difference when you switch them (worse). Also, the leverage the added width puts on your hubs can't be good...

Re: Stock Reversal
To flip rims the right way, you need to reverse the valve stems. You need to drill new valve stem hole on back side of wheels and put new valve stems in holes. Then you pull out old valve stems on front side of wheels and replace with valve stem upside down so that the valve stem is inside wheel. This way the old valve stems on front side of wheel do not rub on brakes when flipped. If you are using spacer's you might not have to mess with valve stems. When my machine was stock I flipped my wheels with out doing valve stems or using spacer's by just putting 1/4 inch nuts on studds before putting wheel on, this gives just enough space with the valve stem caps off not to hit brakes (the nuts slide over stud, they do not thread on). You do barely have enough threads left to hold wheel on but you do have enough. When you flip rims make sure you switch left to right so you still get the tread going in the right way. Will not be close to L.t. kit but will feel way better than stock. I ran mine like that for 2 months hard, jumps and all and never had a problem.

Re: Stock Reversal
Notice also there is a indentation on the wheels that will keep them from sitting against the hub as they should. Will probably cause the wheels to work loose and start wearing out the bolt holes. This is what I came up with when I tried it.

Re: Stock Reversal
It still will suck up tight and will not move or oblong holes, I ran mine like that for 2 months hard with no problems. Bolt it up and tighten it, you will see.

That is why I mentioned moving them STRAIGHT across being the same, not rotating them around the vehicle. If you think about picking up the tire and walking it around, you are keeping the "inside" of the rim still facing the vehicle. If you were to pass the tire over the vehicle to someone else, you are "flipping" the rim so the valve stem would be on the inside.
