Thoughts on 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres
G’day Fellows
I am thinking of getting the optional 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres, mainly for trials and hunting little dune work but soft creek beads are encountered. Here In Australia we do not have a great variety as you do in the US so any feed back would be appreciated.

Check the weight of the wheels first...the Bruiser I have are good looking but Heavy!!! I went with a lighter rim and I'm pulling the Bruisers off...better throttle response and better balanced ride...the Bruisers are out of balance and require balancing....

Re: Thoughts on 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres
I actually like the extra weight of the Bruiser rims. I'm not in it for speed and do a lot of crawling in rocks, streams, etc. so the unsprung weight does not bother me. With inch and half spacers they help keep me stick to the ground.

Re: Thoughts on 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres
14 inch rims look great but thay can be damaged on the trail quicker than 12 inch. Thay have a shorter sidewall and this puts the rim at risk. And thay have a stiffer ride. Also if you push it to fare in a turn thay flip the rzr quicker. (This is under extream riding.)

How do 14" rims do this? A shorter/stiffer sidewall is going to give you less tire rollover. In theory the edge of the rim could possibly catch the ground sooner, but I would think the shorter sidewalls would actually reduce that chance. Typically the 14" would be better cornering, etc. and the 12" would be better for taking abuse and bouncing off of stuff.

Re: Thoughts on 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres
The 14 inch with a shorter sidewall will corner alot better on the hard stuff. but anywhere else the corner edge of the tread will dig in and flip you quicker also on hard pack if you push it to fare you will flip quick. thats why i said extream riding. 14's do have there pluses but for all around riding and dependability i go with 12's.

I've never seen that happen w/ anything! Tires rolling over flip vehicles on a regular basis, but not the tread lug catching.

Then why do all of your TT racers and such use larger rims w/ shorter sidewalls?

Re: Thoughts on 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres
Thanks for the replies. Is the Polaris crusher 8 spoke rim lighter?
Are the MTR a good all round tyre?
If you stick with the 12's should you go with the aluminum rims or are they the same weight as the steel ones?

Re: Thoughts on 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres
The Aluminum rims will definatly be lighter than the steel ones. I have a few miles on my MTR's now and I find them excelent in the sand and on hard pack trail. In the slop not so much. I still haven't gotten stuck with them but I haven't gone too mud crazy yet. The ground here is still a little froze up. Heres a couple pics of the crushers on my RZR...I love the 8 spoke look. I also have a 2" RD lift installed.

Re: Thoughts on 14” bruiser rim w/MTR tyres
I love mine. I use my RZR for hunting, trail riding, mudding, etc.. I had doubts on the MTR's, but I have found no issues with them or the rims. I like them!

Possible to see a pic? I remember you were concerned about the weight carrying capacity. What air pressure are you using? If you don't mind, from whom did you get them? I still want to stay with 12" and definately MT/R's but haven't decided on rims yet... Bart
