the best paddle tires
I need to know what type of paddle tire to buy. I will be running the crusher wheels with the goodyear mtr tires for my first trip to the dunes this year but I want to get paddles for my memorial trip. I ride in the oregon dunes. I had dune stars on the front and rear of my rhino before I sold it. It took so much power away that I ended up just running 489's and had better luck. I like the look of the skat trak rear with the smoothies in the front. But I am a little worried about ruining the paddles running down the gravel road to get to the dunes while I am there. I know this has been covered but please tell me how the rzr did in the sand with dirt tires and which set of paddles you prefer. Thanks for your help.

Re: the best paddle tires
I run the Florence Dunes -- Have a home here.
I also spend the Summers At Winchester Bay -- And run the Dunes there.
I like Scat Trac 26 X 12 X 12 .. .. 9 paddle on Douglas Red 3 X 5 rims.
Rear shot ..........
No issue rubbing .............
I trailer from camp to the staging area.
Hope that helps ..........

Skat Trak are definately the most popular trust you won't go wrong with them. I have some customers that like the 26x12x12 9 paddles and some like the 25x10x12 7 paddles. I just tested some 26x12x12 8 paddle gliders (smaller paddle) and I really liked them, they give up some acceleration right off the line but i gained 6 mph on the top end and they dune really well.

Re: the best paddle tires
I have a red rzr. Had it for two weeks. What about paddle tires on the front? What about stock on the front? Is there a problem with running the dunes with 4 wheel drive in all the time?
I was at Little Sahara in UT and saw a rzr with paddles on all four tires but was unable to talk to him.

Re: the best paddle tires
In my opinion ........
For the Sand -- Paddles in the rear and Smoothies in front.
I never use AWD w-my setup. Far easier on the drive train.
Still not convinced ??
There will be another RzR identical to mine (Slower Green One) at Winchester with the identical setup I have -- (As soon as Greg ships um to my shop). Check us out -- Section "D" around Space 16 (Thats In The Marina - East Side).. You can't miss our setups ......... It'l blow your mind !!
If there were a better setup -- I'd have it .. .. Nuff Said !!

Re: the best paddle tires
For wet/damp sand smoothies up front will work great...for dry powder sand I like the ITP AT Mud Lite Mohawks as the steering response is much better also they work better for the trails at Coral Pink Dunes, Mescalero Dunes and Kermit Dunes. I haven't rode Oregon Dunes but I have rode Pismo and the sand is much Damper/Wetter and not nearly as dry as the desert sand...I have run 12 paddle Skat Trak Haulers 25" and Skat Trak 12 paddle Edges 26"....we get 29 mph at the top of Olds Hill weighing at about 1200+ lbs with the Haulers and 28 mph max with the Edges...AWD gives us better steering response also for trails and carving taller dunes...small dunes and flat dunes two wheel drive is great
I have some 12 paddle Ripper 26" that I haven't tried but will soon...
Get lighter wheels to reduce your rotating mass the Crushers are probably HEAVY!

Re: the best paddle tires
i have hauler 25x10x12 8 paddles extremes with a 12x8 rim. the only hill in glamis i couldn't make it up is china wall. i haven't bought anything for the front, but i plan on buying some smoothies.
i had a friend that ran paddles on all 4 corners. it ran great for duning, but it sucked at hillo climb. he actually switch the fronts to smoothies, big difference for hill climbing.
