stock tires at glamis

I am planning a trip to glamis with my new rzr. I would like to know if the stock tires and rims will be able to ride the bowls and climb some of the smaller hills. Thanks again for all the help.

I think I remember reading that a lot of people air down to like 3-4 psi...

Is that TOO little? The stock setting is like 8 psi, so does 7 psi do much?

i had our fronts at like 4 - 5 and blew 2 beads. wasnt fun as we didnt carry a spare. our own fault!

you can also flip the wheels to the other side and the tread will be reversed acting as a "paddle" of sorts.

Re: stock tires at glamis

I ran 5psi and kept up with all the quaders in our group also climbed olds several times with no problems in awd. Busting a bead was my big worry as well but it never happened. My tires are slimed. I would suggest buying a small air compressor and a ratchet strap from somewhere like Walmart just incase. I think mine was like 19 bucks and plugs into the 12v acc plug. Good piece of mind.
Hey Jeep....are you the same dude from RidingAZ?

Re: stock tires at glamis

yup the same.
Thankfully one of the people we were riding with had a little air compressor. I have to get one that I can stash that plugs into the 12v.

I should say that we've been to the dunes a bunch of times, running right about 4 - 5 lbs and only broke beads 1 (on each side) the last time. But it was really rutted up, so that may have had something to do with it.

andrew all I can say is be careful of not tipping over on turns. the wheelbase is really narrow. just dont turn sharp . have fun I am going on march 28 for 4 days.

have a buddy who ran 5psi in all 4 tires and flipped the wheels inside out to make it wider. he had no problems running in the dunes. just make sure you have the super short valve stems or spacers before you flip the wheels. the stems might hit the calipers.

Re: stock tires at glamis

I just got my rzr and went to Glamis for a week. I ran it with stock tires and 6psi and went everywhere. I was able to make it up Lizard hill and Olds is no problem.

However, I flipped all four tires to get that "paddle" action from the stock tread and the extra 10 inches of width with the wheel spacers installed. When I did this the front tires will rub on the body when cornering. Also, to my amazement it didn’t grab worth a crap and I wasn’t able to make it up lizard hill and it lagged big time up olds. Also, with tires flipped I have a feeling you can bend something in the hub area considering the extra leverage the wheels will have when slammed through woops and hard dips. Since it goes everywhere with stock tires I traded my paddles I never put on for a HID light kit...that was waaaaay more useful....
