22'' Smoothies and paddles on 10'' wheels

I am going to try and run a smaller tire in the dunes. 22X8-10 ITP Sandstar dual rib fronts and 22X11-10 ITP Sandstar paddles in the rear. Im thinking and hoping that a smaller tire will be better in the sand and not as hard on the machine. Im going to try a differnt clutch set up also. Also I will use my 2'' spacers on it. any thoughts?

Re: 22'' Smoothies and paddles on 10'' wheels

if i may,go with scat trac they are WAY lighter than the molded paddles they will custom make paddles any way/size you want they will buff the tire(meaning shave the nobies off) to varying thickness based on how tuff a tire you want, and maybe go with a lite wheel,i think utv crap sells them or you can go direct

I know there is some back and forth on the proper or best sand wheel/tire combo. Although I have not tried them all I run ITP ss wheels with dunestars and have yet to be outrun or have any problem in the bowls or climbs at Glamis or Gordon's. Just my two cents!

10in wheels will not fit, they will not clear the brake caliper. I have 12's and am running special order wheels that are 10in wide instead of 8. Then I am running 26x12x12 Skat Trak xtrme 8 paddle haulers, great combo. Here are some pic's

Re: 22'' Smoothies and paddles on 10'' wheels

I put my 10'' wheels and itp sand stars 22X9 front with dual rib and 22X11 angle paddle with 2'' spacers front and rear. I lost 2'' of ground clearance when i try to 3 psi (as I do on quads) but the rzr is a bit heaver. I put 5 lbs then I decided that 8 lbs looked a lot better. I didnt run but up and down the driveway and onto the lawn. I took pics with my phone but I havnt transfered them yet

Angry Re: 22'' Smoothies and paddles on 10'' wheels

I had some custom made...25X12-12 12 Paddle Extremes for rear (Ex ITP Mud Lites)....25X8-12 Mohawks for front (Ex Mud Lite AT with only 20/32" lugs....
They worked great...bottom end response through mid range is awesome...the take off is way better than before on sand...wheel spin at the top of Olds is still there but not as much...
We gained 4-5 mph at top of Olds from 23-24 mph originally (With 12 Paddle 26X12-12 Edges) we are now hitting the top of Olds at 28-29 mph...these speeds are with 70 lbs of Rear Seat and Roll Bar, 25 Lb Odyssey 925 Battery, Two Tool Sets, My Wife at 100 lbs (Wet), Our 3 yr old at 24 lbs, Rear Cooler 12 Pack Rack full of drinks, Two Cameras, Tow Strap, Aftermkt Hitch and 2" Ball, Other small accessories, Full Tank of fuel
Weights for Tires & Wheels:
Rears:
26X12-12 on .125 Real Wheel rims = 28 lbs each
25X12-12 on .125 Real Wheel rims = 24 lbs each
Fronts:
26X10-12 on Douglas .190 Wheels = 28 lbs each
25X8-12 on Real Wheels .125 rim = 14 lbs each
so you can see we lost a total of 28 lbs of unsprung weight off the front and an additional 8 lbs off the rear
Yes the RZR Sand setup that Fullerton is selling is not the best so I scrapped them and made my own...we did lose ground clearance that was noticable but it worked to our advantage for topping out over Razorbacks as you would drag in the center and not drop straight off...even my wife was pleased with how they handled when originally she was not impressed at all by their looks at first, but after driving around Glamis she was convinced this is a better setup...it may not be the best, but I did get close...sorry for no rear view pictures the camera died when I went to take it!...forgot to charge it

Re: 22'' Smoothies and paddles on 10'' wheels

running those 22" tires i would imagine you are probably going to bottom the chassis out in the sand pretty easily.. we bottom with the 25" tires.. so just keep that in mind.
