Re: give your opinion, wheels and tires
I can tell you this much for that kind of riding you want a tire that will clean out fast. i would take a look at swamp lights also thay might have a better foot print for rock crawling. just make sure thay will clean out fast enough. i ride mi ky tn alot and i like mudlights. there a good all around tire for this kind of riding.

I run the GY MTR's for what I do, but Cartwheelin did a good shoot out on UTV tires that could help you decide on what is right for you...

Re: give your opinion, wheels and tires
I used Big Horns on the Rubicon and Barrett Lake Jeep Trail last summer. They held up well to pretty extreme rock crawling. Not sure about the mud performance.

Re: give your opinion, wheels and tires
I have the Maxxis Mud Bug R. They're light but still 6-ply rated. I really like the bead protector. I haven't done much hardpack trail riding since I got them but so far they've been great on hills, snow and what little mudding I've done. The big lugs make them buzzy at low speeds.

Re: give your opinion, wheels and tires
I really like my Maxxis Bighorns. It sounds as if our riding styles and terrains are similar. I went with a beadlock rim just because I kept hearing about lost beads at low pressures.

Re: give your opinion, wheels and tires
I am an ex rock crawler here in Southern California. The problem I have is not finding a tire that performs, but finding one that has any sort of cut resistance. The rocks in Johnson Valley eat everything I have tried. Nothing worse than cutting the side wall of a brand new tire. I cut a brand new Maxxis Big Horn on Sunday but I think I am too wide (11") on a 8" wide rim. I am going to change to a 9" tire next.
Oh well!

Re: give your opinion, wheels and tires
hey socal, after riding with my buddies and seeing how the terracross work because they are so lite, I made my decision and went with the maxxis Zilla, they are very lite and aggressive, perfect for rock crawling some say they are too soft, but they are the same as the terra cross. I purchased them for 265 bucks, put them on my stock wheels turned around back wards, this can be acomplished by drilling new valve stem holes on the back side. The rears had to be welded up, but the fronts can be run with the valve stem removed and put in backwards. All the buddies I run with have the ss 14" wheels and tires, but I suck with the stock size and can eat them up on top end, and have way better wheel spin control, for the technical woods riding. Just my 2 pennies. Have fun. Oh yea, the zilla's are awsome for rock crawling!!!
