Very interested in your journey, I have a KTM 525 and have been interested in doing this trip for some time. How do plan on doing this without plates? I know most of the ride is desolate but some sections require to ride on tarmec.
I would love to do it in my RZR maybe start with the ARK section. I have also been following this guys site for a couple of years and he has some nice write ups about it. Are you going to start a website so we can follow your journey? Awesome man cant wait!!

Johnny I would recommend looking into this Spot personal tracking system. My buddy and me have been looking into doing it on a KLR. If you were doing it a few weeks later I might have been able to join you so if you have to delay your plans keep me in mind.

Johnny! too cool! I've followed many threads on dif forums of people running the TAT. Are Arizona plates on a UTV gonna be accepted by cops out east? probably depends upon the individual officer, how well can you talk... Good luck this is too cool so wish I could do it!

Ive had a few People try to contact polaris for me but no luck as of yet if you know anybody at polaris give them my number 602-284-2430 I do at this point have another company that has contacted me about taking 1 of their machines but Id really like to take a XP 900

Johnny, You said a RZR S or new RZR XP what are your thoughts on an 09 standard RZR doing this trip? I have the time and most likely the money just worried about this thing holding up for 4800 miles.
I bet there are a piles of machines that would make it .. I just personally like the low milage thing .. some times we will be 100 miles from anything and towing a machine for that many miles would suck .. I plan on getting a u haul and heading home if for some reason my machine is unrepairable in a reasonable time .

Do you have a detailed map of the route we would be taking?
yes I have a detailed set of maps and roll charts for Sam but it will still be some time befor I get them in the GPS

I can't do the whole ride but would'nt mind riding the utah leg. How long is that, 3-4 days? It sound like you'll be starting somewhere near moab. Do you have the utah leg mapped out? What days would you be going through Utah? Mid July?
Location updates will be given as the trip permits .. traveling this many days off road might be a issue giving dates ... and yes we will stay in Moab one night ...

I guess youll never know if ya dont try .. thats why I plan on taking a new machine

I have 3300 miles on my RZR-S I would not hesitate to leave tomorrow on a 4600 mile trek its not going to break here at home if it breaks on the trail then I will fix it and continue on just like any other riding trip.

The only difference I see is you might be slightly more inconvenienced than if you were on one of your regular riding trips and broke down, I am willing to sacrifice that convenience for a chance to see another 4600 miles of this country close up and offroad :)

If their is anything about your RZR that worries you then check it out before you leave other than that go for it.
sometimes fixing it is hard when you are hundreds of miles from anything .. but im willing to give it a try

Johnny, I live in east Tenn and might get to do part of it, and, if you need anything while you are here I will be glad to help you out. I am trying to get in touch with Chad at Wastland to get my title so I can get my Tn plate for my RZR.
Thank for the offer and hope to see ya on the trail

FYI, three or four years ago there was a fellow that rode an Arctic Cat from Oregon to the coast of Maine, then a couple years ago there was a Canadian couple who rode Sportsmans from the Canadian border to the bottom of Baja Ca. I don't remember their websites, but I followed both websites. Very interesting reading of you look them up.

If this were next year I think I could do the entire trip. I'll have to sit back with the rest of the folks and enjoy the view through your camera lens.

I admire anyone who attempts the trip.
If you finish, it will be an amazing feat.

There's a chance I'll be out in AZ early next month.
If we both have the time, I'd like to buy you lunch and hear about your plans.
