I need speakers
i'm almost done with my build up on my rzr. last thing to do is install a stereo/speakers. i've ordered the lil mule rear rack and i need some ideas on speakers and amp. i want to run two 6 1/2 wakeboard tipe speakers that clamp on the rack and possibly mount an amp on the under side of the rack. i do deep creek crossings and a lot of mud where i am at and need to have speakers/amp/stereo placed high. i do not want a head unit but just an ipod interface. probably go with the otterbox cover and mount it on the dash. any opinions on which/where/how to do such a thing would be appreciated.

I'm about to change my whole set-up, I have some Bazooka 6 1/2" wakeboard speakers that I will sell ya for $125 plus shipping. These things sound really great but I'm setting up my RZR as my Kenwood Excelon demo vehicle.

I just ordered some cheap pyle tower speakers and a pyle amp(total cost $150). I am going to play around with them next week when they come in and figure out the best way to do it. I like playing in the water so I'm going to try to keep everything up in the air as well. I'll let you know what I find out.

Re: I need speakers
well i ordered the audio pipe under dash kit for the rzr. the guy i talked to (josh) assured me that the speakers and 200w amp is enclosed water/mud proof. i also ordered the otterbox ipod cover and permanent mount. my build should be done in a couple of weeks (still waiting on high lifter springs) i will post pics and let yall know how submerging the sound system works. a friend of mine just bought a rzr and will let him know about the speakers for sale. he doesnt want to invest alot so that should be right up his ally. thanks

Re: I need speakers
It is so easy to build a speaker box out of 6" pvc elbows, and a straight section. I will try to go get a video posted!

Re: I need speakers
Here is a video of my rzr.
It is very loud when you are standing beside it, I can only imagine when you put the seat in and sit down with the speaker just behind and to the right of your head.

Re: I need speakers
Just curious to everyone that has installed stereo systems in their RZR/Ranger...This was my first attempt with Marine grade speakers and I'm Very Disappointed! I built a very air-tight enclosure from coated MDF to the needed airspace for the 6x9's and had good power pushing them. The speakers are DC Audio(formerly BABB) and are a fairly high quailty speaker.
I've spent lots of hours on these trying different enclosures and it still has that horrible "Treble-Rebel" sound as if they were Free-Airing. I've always had lots of success with my car audio setups, but this is kicking my tail.
Maybe I'm being too picky, but even my old Sony BoomBox sounds better(grin).
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Man I hear ya I have a stock Pioneer deck with Polaris front ant top speaker enclosures with kicker speakers. The sound is not the greatest but never the less it is what it is just like you said in your post.

Re: I need speakers
I like my Mammoth system.
Speakers are mounted right behind your head. Water and mud proof.

Double check to make sure the speakers are in phase. Also, are you using just deck power? What head-unit are you using?

Re: I need speakers
I did check the phase before I disassembled and I was running them off an Aquatec Marine Amp so there was plenty of power available. I wasn't using a head unit at all...just running straight from the MP3. I think that also may be an issue because there isn't that availability of separation controls to adjust everything. Maybe a nicer MP3 player will help?
I just got a pair of the Polk Audio MOMO 6x9's and powered them with an older amp that I've had around for years. They sound incredibly better! The DCAudio speakers are supposed to be really nice, but I guess that's just subject to what you like.
Hopefully I will have enough time this week to finish up my system and get my LED's going.
One other question concerning stereo systems...Has anyone run into any restrictions or issues with the National Parks and the use of stereo's? I normally hate these vehicles that are thumping and booming on the side of me...I just want good sound quality that I can listen to at a respectable level and not disturb others.
