This is a neat tailgate saver they had. It comes apart for storing and keeps the weight off the tailgate.

Re: Tailgate saver

I used to use something similar. It works great for hauling the rzr in the truck.....but you cannot tow with that set up.

Re: Tailgate saver

It might save the gate structurally, but it doesn't save the paint.

Re: Tailgate saver

Here are a couple of pics of what I used to do. It saved the tailgate, but I eventually got sick of taking the tailgate on and off and storing it in the garage.

Re: Tailgate saver

Good idea for those with short beds.
DGManufacturing - Tailgate-Support (forum vendor) is an easy fix for this to for $55, when I do not want to haul out the trailer or 5th wheel. I have an 8' bed so it does not rest on the tailgate itself while being hauled like the above picture shows either.
I seen guys with short beds using the above mention support and it seemd to work well.

Also I seen were a guy had 2 long metal plates bolted to his bed and had a hinged plate, that he flip down onto the tailgate as a support and supported with a similar tailgate supports like the DG. Seemed to work but also a lot of added weight and fabrication, but if you got it why not.

Seen an other guy build ramps to lift the front of the RZR enough to get the RZR more forward and off the tailgate too, so he could haul a pull trailer.

Its all good what ever works I guess.
