Tandem Tow on Steroids

I bought this Tandem Tow last year to haul both our Jeep and our Golf Cart. It is the HD model that I adapted an XL deck to, with one little change. We added 1.0 ft. to the length of the deck for extra room. It is 8.5' wide and 7'7" long. and now it is suited to haul our Jeep and our RZR S or the Golf Cart...

This thing is sweet!

Re: Tandem Tow on Steroids

I thought it was bad to tow a rear wheel drive with the rear wheels on the ground? Why not just get a little larger tandem axle trailer large enough they both fit?

Isn't is it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do "practice"?
Why do we drive on the parkway and park in the driveway?
Problem with political Jokes is,, they get elected..

Re: Tandem Tow on Steroids

8Ball - Transfer case in neutral and all is good. Leave Tranny in Park! I don't want a 24' ft. trailer, having to deal with parking at a campground etc.

JustinL - Thanks on the compliments on the wheels. NO Limits is the manufacturers. I love them. You can design you own look online and they will ship them to you. Totally awesome. These are 14".

Re: Tandem Tow on Steroids

I am not trying to start trouble. Just trying to prevent trouble for you. Check your Jeep manual closely.
-- don't tow with a dolly -- The upper part of the transfer case is lubricated by oil slung up by the chain. If the front input shaft isn't moving because it's up on a dolly, then the chain isn't moving. Oops, no lubrication for the upper part of the transfer case (bad news!).

The JK should be towed with all four wheels off the ground, or with all four wheels on the ground.

I do not know the year of your Jeep, so I could be totally wrong--would not be the first time.

As I stated, just trying to prevent trouble.

All the best!

Hey I don't take this wrong at all. I can always use advise and help. I did check with several Jeep forums and Chrylser. What I was told was that it was fine to do this as the transfer case is put in neutral and actually both front and rear shafts free wheel (disengaged). But having you bring this up gives me that feeling of wanting to double check my previous evaluations.
