Cargo trailer / camper?
I met up with a guy this weekend who used an enclosed cargo trailer to haul his machines and after he took the machines out he had beds that folded down and several other camping necessities inside like a sink, toilet and shower. Anyone on here done something similar to a cargo trailer? Lets hear about it and see some pics!!

Re: Cargo trailer / camper?
There are a number of those kinds of trailers you can buy out there already equipped like you mention. Just search on Featherlite, Forrest River, Mirage Balboa and several others. Some are more expensive than others. I was going to build one out of a cargo trailer but by the time I got it the way I wanted it I could have bought one already done by a manufacturer. So I did. I have a Forrest River Work n' Play. Here's my rig. Sorry no indoor pictures. It's got a full-time bed up front, full living quarters with 10.5' garage in the back with a door dividing the garage and living quarters. See the link to prevvious post.

Re: Cargo trailer / camper?
Hey there Hoodlum! I'm debating on getting a Pilot or a 350. Is there that much difference in HP and suspension? I had an FL250 as a kid and anything has to be better that those for sure. It was still fun 20 some years ago. I was thinking of getting rid of my quad and getting a pilot and let Queenie drive the RZR. Sorry. I know this is an RZR Forum.

Get the pilot....Not alot of difference in power, but the suspension is far superior in stock form, and the water cooling is a much welcomed plus as well.....The Pilots will hold their value much more than a 350 too....350's are going fairly cheap, but you'll put more than enough $$$ in it than a pilot will cost initially just to get it on the same level...

Re: Cargo trailer / camper?
Boy I dunno about that! You're talking like 3000 pounds or more even. Your weak point is your brakes and tranny. I had an Astro van and pulled at old 15' camp trailer occasionally and it sure seemed like it was working every bit of that van to pull that trailer. I would guess it to be similar in weight to what you're wanting to pull and any hill is going to make things worse on your truck in that it will work harder. A 1/2 pickup would be better for sure but if you do that, get at a 3/4 ton with good brakes, and tranny and tranny cooler and you'll smoke up the hill and won't have to worry about tearing up your Tacoma....And you could get a little bigger, more comfy trailer too.

Re: Cargo trailer / camper?
The towing capacity on the tacoma is 6500lbs. I would hate to give up the gas mileage that I would be getting while using the truck as a daily driver. I spoke with a trailer salesman about this and he said that with a weight distributing hitch and brakes on the trailer I should have no problems.
