Who makes quality toy-haulers?

Have considered trading/selling my aging Skyline-Nomad TT for a new(er) trailer. I have been looking at a TON of them and I am starting to think my older trailer is built better than most of the newer ones. Little things such as underbelly protection is hard to find. Sadly, because I have the older fold-down rear queen bunk, I have to let the air out of the Rzr tires which is annoying, and I/wife would like a walk-around front bed. Understanding several companies went out of business, not necessarily because of quality, does anyone have any opinions about what toy-haulers to stay away from? I am leaning toward a 30-35 foot tandem-axle fifth-wheel: the tandem vs triple because of sharp turns putting too much torsion on the wheels/axles; the fifth wheel because it's just easier to tow. The tow rig is 2008 Duramax, short-bed 4X4 (stock).

Thanks all - M

Re: Who makes quality toy-haulers?

I have a Holiday Rambler Next Level 5th wheel. Mines a triple axle 40 footer, but they make smaller ones. After seeing all the models out there, the Holiday Rambler is just built better all the way around. VERY happy with the trailer and I pull with a 2005 Duramax, short-bed 4X4 (stock except airbags and higher rated tires).

Re: Who makes quality toy-haulers?

You can spend 15K or 75K ....sooner or later they all leak. I have never seen a new trailer of any brand that didn't have at least a few issues, and some are just plain horrible!

Re: Who makes quality toy-haulers?

Lots fo good ones out there , just remember to pick one that is still in business. Weekend Warrior and Ragen are gone so no factory warranty, hence no coverage on coach (extended warranty only covers major appliances in coach not the coach body).
I like Thor products, they sold out and are now called MVR but they stand behind their product and fix stuff quickly. As Johnnycat said they all have issues, my needed a new water pump and a new control board for the fridge (both fixed under warranty), i am guessing these got burnt out due to people testing stuff on dealer lot prior to my purchase.

Heartland RV Cyclone or the little brother.. Razor. Both quality units and Heartland is one of only a few RV companies actually making money. So they should still be in business after this tough economic time.....

Re: Who makes quality toy-haulers?

I have seen a lot of Landmark 5th wheels. They seem like nice products. I will not be in the market for one for a couple years. Trying to save up for a house. My Parents have a 2004 35 FT fleetwood Bounder looking to sell soon if anyone is interested in a motorhome.

Re: Who makes quality toy-haulers?

I just picked up a Puma Unleashed(made by Papamino/Forest river)27SBU friday. It's fully loaded with generator and fuel station. Going to try it out next weekend. They also have 5th wheels. I pull mine with a 2006 2500hd Duramax. I had a Wildwood LE sport 30ft. before this one. You could haul 4 4wheelers in in the garage area. It will also fit a RZR if you use a jack to spin it around to fit long ways.

Work and Play series by Forrest River RV is the one that my wife and I love. We are building our own now though cause we want premium interior and floor layout. Plus it is a cool project....

AZ Re: Who makes quality toy-haulers?

Thanks, everyone. I forgot to add that interior colors have to be "cute" and the bathroom has to be entirely enclosed (shower, toilet, sink) and have access without accessing the master bedroom. Other stuff such as fresh/gray/black and axle capacity, storage capacity, etc., will be after thoughts.
